Let me preface this by saying I saw my dentist 3 weeks ago for a Cleaning and Check-Up. At that time, I was given the wonderful news that my teeth looked good and all was well. My next appointment is in May. For the present, I am going this often in the hopes of preventing a TMJ major relapse.

Question: About a week ago, out of the blue, while drinking water one of my top teeth (possibly the one that has a small filling in it) reacted to the cold. Since then, the feeling comes and goes both when drinking water (and at times when not). Should I be concerned or is this just another, ::),TMJ related symptom?

Thanks,
Mona

Hi Angel,

May you never know the horrors TMJ can wrought! I hope you are not experiencing it now.

Sensitivity is nothing to do with TMJ, but you can develop it fairly quickly. Have you tried the old standby of Sensodyne toothpaste?

Thanks Gordon for the info. :) I have had TMJ tooth issues were my crown felt "big" or a tooth with a filling did as well and it was all the trick of the mind caused by TMJ. That's why I thought maybe this was too. Good news is, the tooth seems to have calmed down, back to normal. Unless it should flare up again (and last) I'm not worried about it. I see the dentist in 6 weeks and if need be will try your suggestion of Sensodyne. Actually, the hygieniest has suggested I might try Sensodyne simply because it might make brushing longer/better easier? I have both a manual and electric toothbrush but since the TMJ have only been using the manual because it's less of an impact on my teeth. I know that probably also means, I'm doing less of a good job brushing but oh well. I did get a good report a few weeks ago. :)

Thanks again,
Mona
