On August 23rd, 2023 I had a root canal treated tooth upper left, 4th one from the front (that was done in 2021 with no issues) filling replacement. The dentist stated that there was a small gap in the filling and it needed to be replaced. Ok. No big deal. Put my upper partial in and left. Everything seemed fine. One week later, I started getting pressure and tenderness in that tooth. Took my upper partial Out and it went away. Repeated this for a couple days. Fast forward to 2 days ago. Severe pressure, tenderness and couldn't bite down without pain. Went back to dentist. She adjusted the bite. All was well or so I thought. Tooth started hurting that night. Took 800mg of ibuprophen.. after it took effect I fell asleep. Woke up at 2:30 a.m. with intense throbbing. Dentist saw me today and did a major bite adjustment. Which was instant relief. Still tender but bearable. I noticed before going to the dentist today that I had a little swelling to the left of my nose. Hardly noticeable. She did all of the normal testing - xray, no infection, probing for a Crack or fracture all clear, cold test air test all good, no red or swollen gums no little pimple or anything weird. She said the tooth was inflammed from being traumatized with a bite that was off and the partials putting pressure on the tooth for not fitting correctly. She said the inflammation would go away with time. After adjusting the bite, she adjusted my partial, twice. When she was fitting it in my mouth she jammed it in hard, both times. Anyways, no pain or anything. I get home still taking tylenol and ibuprophen. Now, 4 hours later, my gum hurts where the partial was jammed in and the outside of the tooth is sensitive again, the small swelling on the left side of my nose is bigger, warm to the touch and pressure in the swelling area when I bend over to pick something up. Its also hurts on that side when I smile, etc. I have been keeping an ice pack on and off. Doesn't seem to help much. What would cause this swelling? Is it an infection that was missed? Help! I am worried and scared to death! I have never ever had any facial swelling, even when I got all 4 wisdom teeth out. Any insight is very much appreciated.
