Hello,

I guess this is a post to the dentists [smiley=hiding.gif]

I was wondering what the signs and symptoms of a dental cyst or tumor would be. Underneath my bottom right unerupted wisdom tooth/2nd molar site on the inside is a sort of raised/swollen bit. I'm really worrying about what it could be. I'm 21. The site doesn't hurt, not even when I press it really. Is it the tooth or root? Could it be a cyst or tumor? I'd prefer to be prepared to hear it than be shocked. What would the symptoms be? When I look at it I can't see any bump, blemish or anything different it's just when I feel it with my finger.

The only pain I have is the aches in my jaw/face/ear that i've had since my father passed away, and that I consider to be TMJ (I do clench my teeth, plus have a bad bite.)

I do however get the odd bubble of fluid coming to the surface of the gum that the wisdom tooth is under.

Thanks in advance,

An anxious DawnUnicorn

It sounds like a gum boil. I have one that comes and goes all the time, on the very back tooth, next to the tooth that was taken out a couple of years ago. I've had xrays, and am told the tooth is fine. It's just my gum. I had all my wisdom teeth taken out when I was a kid. Try salt water. 8-)

Hi hugmedan,

Thanks for your input :) It kinda feels like theirs something underneath the gum though

It's hard to give you an answer without seeing for myself. I can tell you that it's almost certainly not any kind of tumour, they are literally one in a billion to present in that kind of a fashion ;D

It's possible that you're feeling the crown or roots of the wizzie, but the only way to be sure what it is, would be for a dentist to have a look and preferably have an OPT x-ray taken.

Hi Gordon,

Thank you so much for answering. At least I can stop worrying about a tumor. You're right I need to get myself down to a dentist and get x-rayed [smiley=hugging.gif]

Like arnold say "Its not a tumor" lol. Id get it checked out though, deffently, just to be safe. And besides its a wisdom tooth, inless its replacing a lost tooth, u really dont need it!
