Hi there,
I'm new to this website/forum so please bare with me! I came across this site whilst looking for help/advice/support on my procedure tomorrow as I'm unsure on whether to go or not?!
Here's a quick bit of background (apologies for rambling), after 10 years of not visiting the dentist due to a number of traumatic experiences as a teenager with an insensitive butcher of a dentist I finally plucked up the courage to go (this was only following 4 weeks of unbearble pain and a realisation that I was taking way too many painkillers!) After initially seeing the most rude dentist in the practice (who asked me, why, if I was so scared of the dentist had I not taken better care of my teeth?! A fair point, but not something I wanted to hear whilst the tears were rolling down my face) I then managed to see the dentist who treats my children (I had never met her before as I've never taken them to an appointment, my husband has always taken care of it) but she was lovely! She managed to examine my teeth without touching them and advised that I would need to be referred to the NHS for sedation as she was going to struggle to get any work done without it (sedation isnt offered at my practice).
Fast forward a few months and I now have an appointment for tomorrow to get 3 teeth out (1 being a wisdom tooth) under GA at the hospital....I AM TERRIFIED!!

I'm not sure what I'm most scared of, the procedure, the GA, the bleeding, the complications...the unknown!!
My goal is to get these teeth removed and start building a 'healthy' relationship with the dentist. I know I need fillings etc and will need something to close these gaps but all of that seems such a long way off at the moment. My stomach is in knots and I'm contemplating just not going but I know I'm just putting off the inevitable.......help!!
