Hi,
Whats the best teeth whitening you can get in the UK?

I've read a few places that laser teeth whitening is the best, however everywhere I've looked they don't do it, only the home trays and bleaching kits for £350?

is this home kit the only way? I just don't know if it would make hardly any difference for £350?

Hi!

I'd avoid home-whitening kits. Many of them are very weak, and won't yield good results.
Most dentists now offer this service, but it's incredibly expensive, and it's only temporary. If you have sensitive teeth, they won't carry out the procedure.
Some beauty salons now carry out teeth whitening, but would you want a beauty therapist working on your teeth? A guy I worked with spent £75 on tooth whitening. He had to follow a 'white food' diet for a week, and said his teeth hurt all the time....

Does teeth whitening actually like paint the teeth white or does it the teeth whitening like bleach the teeth back to normal colour?

also what happens if you have white fillings on the front teeth? as I've only had them done a while ago

If you whiten, the fillings will be off-colored.

It's not just painting white on, it has to do with lasers, I'm not sure exactly but I don't think it's paint

I'm not a dentist, but I believe the teeth are treated with a peroxide formula - a bleach - to remove any stains. Any caps, crowns or white fillings will be a different shade because they were matched to your existing tooth colour.
I have sensitive, brittle teeth, so I'd never get them whitened. However, if you really want this, talk to a professional who can give you proper advice

If I have my teeth whitened I have a couple of white fillings on my front teeth, So it wouldn't work would it?

I've read a few places where you have the teeth whitening done then replace the fillings, However how long does your teeth stay white, is it worth it or a couple months down the line would I be back to what I have?

Also is bleaching and whitening the same thing?

bleaching and whitening are names for the same process.
laser (or power) whitening is no more effective than tray(also called home) whitening though it is much more expensive.
It is illegal for anyone other than a dental professional to carry out whitening in the uk
home whitening is the most effective, best controlled and most predictable whitening technique. £300ish is typical.
fillings and crowns will not change colour. if they stand out more after whitening then they can be changed.
the whitening is not permanent - teeth naturally darken and accumulate stains - however it can easily be 'topped up' to maintain the new colour.
some people get increased sensitivity whilst whitening, this goes away afterwards. If you already have sensitivity then you are more likely to experience problems. Cheaper brands of whitening gel tend to cause more sensitivity.
we whiten lots of people and it rarely causes any significant or lasting difficulties but we use high qulity whitening trays and excellent quality gels.
