Well I have just returned from the dentists, this has to be the fastest ever appointment, I wasn't sure what I was having done but none the less I was a nervous wreck, after all it was a dentist appointment! he told me I could keep my jacket on but I was half out off it by then! ( think that and getting in the chair was the longest part :grin:) all he wanted to do was try in the wax template off the upper and lower denture I tried not to let my tongue touch any of it as I don't want to fill my head with any concerns off how it feels before I really have to, well that was that, he told me my next appointment was with Mr B for my sedation assessment ( march 14th) who was very nice and would look after me and would just be having a chat, that was it!! My appointment was 25 to 10 and I was home (4 miles) away before 10, all that worry!!! Just for that!! I'm exhausted and it's not even lunchtime yet!! :doh:.

Another step forward well done...it's difficult to keep the tongue away from the mold...it actually tastes like candles.The anxiety and the not knowing is the worst part and all that energy we use know wonder we are so exhausted...take care
 
I hate the fact that I get all stressed and worked up and then you spend a blimp of time in the chair and you think, why the hell do I do that :rofl::rofl::rofl:

I am glad it was short and not so sweet for you, good luck with seeing the os. I am sure they will be really nice to you. Try not to get so stressed, I know you probably will, but at least you know they are only going to go through things with you.

Not long back from what I believed to be an IV assessment but was a referral to the os who had a quick look and asked some questions re my fear and medical history, he agreed on my dentists findings and will pull the teeth now I just need the way it is going to happen there were 3 options we discussed
1: local Anaesthetic
2: IV Sedation
3: General Anaesthetic
Option one he reckons if he said he was doing it that way I would bolt out of the chair and run through the door:terror:( don't be daft!! If I knew he wanted to do it that way I wouldn't even turn up:scared:!!)
option 2 my personal favourite:giggle: and one he was happy with.
option 3 not really an option when you are built for comfort rather than speed !;)
We decided option 2 was best, so now he will refer me ( more waiting, as if this last 2 weeks didn't torment me enough!!:frantic:) to the sedation man :tired: who may decide to do it in the local hospital as opposed to the clinic as I have had a previous clotting problem in the past, so waiting now for his appointment and his decision then the relevant place will be in touch with a date! To think I had a sleepless night worrying that I may be given a date for the op today What a waste of adrenaline. I'm fair worn out!! So just waiting now:waiting: ( I hate waiting!!)

We really must not stress how we do, I am sure it puts 10 years on me each time, at this rate I won't have long left :giggle::giggle::giggle:

I know the waiting is the pits but it is and will be worth it. I hope it doesn't take too long for an appointment to come through for you :butterfly:

If we could lose the weight with all the stress we would have the speed to run :) Although me old bones are against me and crack and won't play fair. :rofl:
 
Yeah I had to be the one that eats when stressed :hungry: but I tell you now creaking joints and a one speed gear box and I'd still run a 4 min. mile if he approached with a syringe!!:rofl: And I'm so exhausted even just after a consultation I feel like I have run it too:grin: then I'll spend the next week replaying the whole event over and over! A active imagination is great for writing stories, poetry, decorating cakes and wool craft but it isn't half a problem when you have a dental visit !!!. Hopefully work starting again next week will help pass the time and while he was writing his notes I saw a box of stickers..... I nearly asked for one too:toofunny:

Well he's just gone down in my estimation :naughty: NO STICKER :eek: what was he thinking :giggle: I want a lolly, sticker and a balloon when I go. In my head I get them all.

I know what you mean with the creative imagination I too find it handy for hobbies, but it plays havoc with my nerves when faced with dental treatment. :eek:

What are you knitting?

I replayed my dental visit panic an' all this morning on the bus, I haven't done this for some time, saying that though I did have a break from dental visits for a few months.

I am supposedly crocheting a evening shawl but seeing as the weather we get is not all summer breezes, instead of a fine yarn I am using normal wool it's very open but if I get it long enough it might double up as and escape ladder should it be needed at any point!!!!!!!! :giggle: Although I have a granny squares lap rug to complete too, maybe a job for post extraction depending when it happens as we have lambing time first :yayy: x x
 
My appointment has come through to meet with the anaesthetists to see if he wants to sedate me at the clinic or at the hospital, unfortunately it's not til the 23 rd April ( we have a saying in Manx , 'traa dy liooar' said tray da lure which means 'time enough' guess its coming into play) on the plus side my appointment came with a ' modified dental Anxiety Scale questionnaire 5 questions with 5 ratings asking how you would feel if.........
1: if you were attending an appointment tomorrow
2: if you were sitting in the waiting room awaiting treatment
3: if you were about to have a tooth drilled
4: if you were about to have a scale and polish
5: if you were about to have local anaesthetic injection
each with ratings
Not anxious
Slightly anxious
fairly anxious
very anxious
Extremely aanxious
this I have to bring with me but it's nice to be asked and sent it at home weeks in advance so you can make a calm decision
secondly we have snow today it has been snowing to some degree or other on a very strong wind since 2 am lots of schools have shut and power lines are down in some parts our heating fuel has run out and we only have single glazed windows although we have a solid fuel fire ( I will light this afternoon as hubby is chopping wood) it was 9 degrees C in our lounge but the gas fire is lit and it has risen a couple of degrees it has been forecast to get worse as the temperature drop during the day, so this afternoon is bowl of soup mug of coffee, log fire and television if satellite tv is working, was in work for 3 hours this morning and road home was getting slippy,
2 degrees outside with wind chill to -13 C if it wasn't so windy I would build a snow dog, how's the weather in your part of the world? :snow::snowman::plays: You got snow Carole?
p.s and we had a hour and a half power cut!

Thanks for your reply :) Glad you got some snow. We supposed to be getting another dose of snow tonight just had a look out:snow: and it is itsy bitsy pieces but it has been fairly wet so just pockets where the wind has forced it to accumulate, but can't say I have seen it snow for such a long time, virtually 24 hours non stop! Not the best weather for farming! All the schools were shut and most bus services halted even some banks shut touch wood that the power stays on it was flicking a bit but believe some places are without so we must count our lucky stars :star: the radio was playing ' let it snow let it snow let it snow!:toofunny: xx yes I am happy that I have my appointment even if its a bit away, least its progressing in the right direction,

Glad you have you dates through ,wish I was given the option of being out for procedure,and a questionnaire for your views that is an excellent idea....No snow here on the south coast only rain ..keep warm
 
Hi all sorry i have been away so long have much to catch up on. been keeping in touch with deej through email but thought id hop on. My appt for pre op is the 17th of April and then surgery has to be done withing 1 - 8 weeks of that.so hoping we are both having it done about the same time and can keep each other company albeit only email wise. how is everyone doing? glad you have your appointment, questionnaire sounds good. I am having wobbly moments where am all of a panic but then i see the bigger picture x
 
Yes I had a moment when I thought I was stark raving mad :tease: but a dose of toothache is a very good kick in the butt!:giggle: There for you missus, we can do this!
 
Well hello again wonderful people going to throw this into the pot,
Those of you who have read my thread know I am having 17 teeth removed and replaced with full upper and partial lower ( leaving 5 front) immediate, just awaiting a consult. with anaesthetists as to whether my IV will be at clinic or hosp, after reading a good few posts here a week seems about what people take off work not sure if this is a recommended period or just what people feel is right? Just found out the lady who works evening shift ( we are cooks) is having 10 stubs of teeth removed with local and having stitches is planning on popping to work the following afternoons to make up a few meals for self service, A. I have told work I will prob need a week off. B. I think she is mad it's too soon but then this makes me look like I'm skiving off, yes I plan to pop in to work after 3 days if I feel ok and may go back in light duties on day 4 I don't get any sick pay or holidays but I feel it just puts me in a bad light, I was unfortunate to have a leg infection last year that kept me off for 2 months so feel bad taking more time off this year, but that's the sort of person I am,
what do you guys think?, as I know many of you who live and work in many different circumstances have gone through this, some taking holidays some on sick leave and others self employed needing to return to work A.S.A.P
interested in your experiences and advice
we all heal at different speeds and each case is different of course personally I think she is mad! And that I will stick to a full week max going back in on light duties or supervisory roll after day 4 if I need to and I am able to, ( I live a mile and a half away I have assistance in my workplace and just cook breakfasts and make sandwiches, I have worked there 22 years, my hours vary from 3 to 5hrs per day and it's fairly casual place and pretty easy going, it's just made me judge my work attitude and makes me feel bad in my heart but my head says I'm right :confused:
 
Hi Think you have to go what is right for you....personally having the time off is beneficial ...time to get over the extraction process ......dietary needs (can't just grab a sandwich) soft diets takes a short while to come to terms with and also the grieving time for losing something that has been with you for a long while.But most import you must put yourself first....x
 
I have a broken last back molar down to gum line barr one little sharp piece, my tongue kept heading for if and it was sharp too often grating my tongue and leaving it tender, tonight my gum around it was tender I felt round with my tongue but it wouldn't quite go round so I put my finger there to see where the tenderness was pinpointed too, imagine then my shock when I touched it and it fell into my mouth:scared: such a little piece but I was horrified, isn't it silly ? Especially as before long it's remains and 16 other full teeth will be gone, makes me wonder how I will feel even if they are sensitive and causing trouble will I mourn them? I have never felt overly attached to the others I have had extracted in the past but will this be different? It really has made me wonder D.J :whirl:
