Oh My! I really want my extraction date I am fed up waiting :waiting: it's driving me:tease: stupid!! When I brushed my teeth this morning the bristles hit a sensitive spot :scared: OMG! This is the toothpaste I have to warm first, so fed up! currently have at least 6 heat/ cold sensitive spots It's getting me down now. It's making me lethargic! Seeing anaesthetist on Tuesday hope the OS will be there too and I can try and pin them down for a date, all non urgent surgeries are held off for a fortnight at the end of the month for 2 weeks during a big motorsport fortnight here to cover any emergencies, should they happen, so doubt the anaesthetists will do dental as they will be on standby, got a sniffly nose at the mo. so breathe through my mouth this ends up with being woken up with sensitivity toothache at silly o'clock until I can get it warm and settled back down again, headache tonight but sure it's coming from my top jaw, I feel like I'm sucking aluminium foil and if I think about too much it sends shivers down my back, I must be mad but I am so looking forward to my dental surgery.:madcow:. Rant over!

Oh dear, I am sorry you are in so much pain, I hope you can get an appointment soon and get all this out of the way. :grouphug::grouphug::grouphug::grouphug::grouphug::grouphug::grouphug::grouphug::grouphug::grouphug::grouphug::grouphug::grouphug::grouphug::grouphug::grouphug::grouphug::grouphug::grouphug::grouphug::grouphug::grouphug::grouphug::grouphug::grouphug: Do you think rubbing some sensodyne for sensitive teeth into your teeth would help, I had sensitive teeth and I started to use it some years ago, since then they have been fine. Some people like Colgate but it doesn't work for me. I don't understand why as dentist seem to recommend it more than sensodyne.

Do you know how lillyah is ? sorry if this is spelt wrong I can't remember how she spells it.

Afternoon soldiers sorry i have been away so long been busy and flustered. went for my pre op on wednesday just gone and go for my surgery on this coming wednesday. apparently this will give me less time to bail out. i am definatly not bailing now but i am sure as hell wobbling. not for the actual op because i will be snoozing but the coming round. i come round horribly, and the general getting used to the denture then. i like my foods;D how are you all? deej and me keep in constant contact so im hoping i can message you wedneday night or thursday at a push and let you know that it is not all big and bad. xxx

I know it's easy for me to say you will be fine but I am not the one going through it, yet, and you better had get in touch when you are able I will be more nervous than you, you will be asleep we will be doing the worrying:rofl:
and I will contact you the evening before:hug5::hug5:

Arrh thanks Carole, did you mean MonsterMill who has just posted not really spoken to Lillyh but keep in touch with Lady Luck and northants too all doing ok especially my buddy MonsterMill who is being so brave, she is a little star, how are you doing Carole?
D.J :whirl:

P.s have tried the tooth paste but it has to be warm first :rofl::rofl::rofl:. Hope the OS will be there with the anaesthetists going to tell them I am suffering quite a bit now in the hope they speed up the date not sure I can juggle work and painfull teeth with sleep deprivation.

I hope they give you a date on the tuesday so you can know when you are looking at. Aha i am laughing lots at being called brave keep bursting into tears at all manner of crap and calling partner for not being bothered and just saying youll be fine haha, he means well but he has no concept of the fear. not of GA but of how i i feel when i wake up. i go in at 8am, it should be done mid morning and people usually go home between 2 and 6 but im taking my phone so if i feel up to it before then i shall send you a message on here or via email. It is odd to think that a major part of me will change completly . i dont really want to have to tell people so im considering chopping my hair and dying it blue...then they might not notice lol. I might tell people afterwards but didnt want to before and have the judging my teeth! my nan and grandad just think i am having work done to stop me getting another absess which is true i suppose i cant be fussed with them lecturing me which they will. How are we all? xxx

I have not told them at work that I am getting my teeth out as I don't want them staring when I come back from my time off, if they notice once I get back I will tell them I had some teeth out if it gets deep I will just make it sound sooo hideous they will wish they kept their mouths shut:toofunny::toofunny:. Is that cruel?? Nah! I was planning on turning my hair a shade of purple ( have you been reading my posts and stealing my ideas MonsterMill? Or do great minds just think alike!?)
and heck yes you are brave ! :respect: my hubby not saying anything, not that he doesn't care, I just don't think he doesn't know what to say:scared:, he is very matter of fact and relatively unfazed outwardly and very 'nothing you can do about it you just have to get on with it' type of person but good at making sure I have everthing I need to get me back on track,
once I get a date I'm on a shopping spree for my new gnashers buying everything I need and as much as I can. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . in purple to match my hair !!:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl: ;)
D.J:whirl:

Promise i didnt steal your ideas! I found a red dye in the bathroom and thought it would detract from the fact that i will actually have a smile rather than the tight lipped miserable face i put on when we are out now! I dont really want to tell anyone the extent of my work besides close family, i feel ashamed. How has your appointment gone today deej? been thinking of you. Am trying to sort my house out so i can come back and just veg rather than come back and go holy heck what happened here? im hoping dp encourages the children to keep it tidy or i may have to batter him with the frying pan :giggle: really nervous now just downloading a few books for kindle incase i feel up to and get bored waiting to come home. have bought my son a little present (ninja turtle if your interested) for him to have at his great grandparents house he has been stressing something chronic over me going to hospital. since his nanna passed away he does not trust hospitals at all :( im trying to keep it lighthearted and just tell him i will be back by teatime but he does worry. I havent bought much soft food a few yoghurts and some soup im pretty skint at the minute as its my stepsons birthday tomorrow. will see how i feel and how i eat then send someone shopping for me. how are you all?

Well it's been a funny morning, I go up to my appointment with enough time to sit quiet for a few mins and then get called through, well I have a good chat, the 2 ladies are lovely and we talk about my medical history my fears etc and we start discussing teeth ( well guess it couldn't be avoided for ever, I was asked where I wanted to sit too, which was lovely although I'm ok in the chair just talking:giggle:) all the ideas re tooth extraction and how it could be best achieved were discussed but basically I just pose a big risk, being built for comfort rather than speed, believe you and me I would love to be able to be thin but it doesn't happen, anyway I start to feel like I'm a lost cause again! And we decide on maybe just doing the top for now but having a chat with the 'sleepy juice' man so we go to the desk to make the appointment which is for a month away! More despair as I don't think I can do another month with these teeth but least we have a plan, THEN somehow and I don't know how it happened while chatting about removing teeth in stages we end up on a mad cap idea to go for a few out there and then:scared::scared::scared::scared::wtf: she said are you serious I says yeah she says are you sure i said yes but dont ask me again as i starting to cry but I am willing to try she was so shocked she was nearly going to well up too! well next we are back in the room and going through the details and consent form I get my bib and glasses I get bubble gum numbing first and then I don't really know how many injections? all done slow all with loads of reassurance they were both fantastic, plenty of time for everything to work, no rush, all calm chatting in between topped up numbing before starting, must admit don't like the noise although there was only a little and some very firm pressure at one point in within moments 2 upper back molars out:scared: all after care done and we were all in shock, but I can't say how brilliant they were, they were great, would like her to be my dentist. sat in the car and rang my hubby more to give me time before I drove home WHAT A CRAZY FEW HOURS!!!!!! And guess what? . . . . . .I'm doing it all over again on Thursday I must me crazy Me the treatment phobic just had 2 teeth out!!! Feeling a little more sorry for my self now going to have a tepid coffee and a painkiller, tension headache and tender gums and think the tension is somewhere in the back top of my mouth and or my tongue all feels a bit weird at the mo going to chill on the sofa, totally forgot I have language class tonight will see I may just go and listen. But I can't praise them enough for their care and consideration xx if I can have teeth out with just local I would say please give it a go if it gets too much they will stop xx but there was no pain.
D.J :whirl:
P.s hope that all makes sense I'm in a bit of a state of shock!

Cant stop long as trying to chivvy J into getting changed for going to grandparents but deej I am so proud of you! ya little star you. You took control and you are on your way, im right behind you! together we are going to smash this :) take it easy tonight xxx

Thanks Hun, me and you together we are so going be smiley happy people, you are going to surprise yourself tomorrow and wonder what all the fuss was about:hug5: stay strong, stay positive, and get your partner to e- mail me if you don't feel up to it, we will do this, we are doing it, and we are doing it together! :clover::clover::clover::clover::clover::clover::clover: :grouphug:Watch out world hear we come :superman:

I thought you were going to be sedated :confused::confused::confused::confused::confused: but who cares about that now, :jump::jump::jump::jump::jump::jump::jump::jump::jump::jump: I cannot believe I am reading this :respect::respect::respect::respect::respect::respect::respect: I am so proud of you, I bet you are still unbelieving yourself that you did this. :cool:

I am so happy happy happy for you :yayy::yayy::yayy::claps::claps::claps::claps::claps:

You did so well, I am still in shock, but smiling reading this :wow::wow::wow:

WhoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooHooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo RESPECT :cheer2::cheer2::cheer2::butterfly:

That's what we were going to be discussing today Eeeeek! And feel good enough to sit in at language class tonight too, thank you so much I have seen lots off people with all these smileys now I have some of my own,:jump: and 2 more teeth coming out Thursday! Yikes! Then see how we go from there, not sure about the front ones though bit squeamish about those for some reason, those 2 ladies deserve medals!! They were so nice and I was so scared then once I had the numbing I wanted them to remove a few more as it was relatively easy didn't like the pressure on the removal or the bit of noise but was got myself so fired up for it seems all my achy ness when I got home was all tension although I took a pain tab. to make sure, just a bit tricky as I have been drinking though a straw til now as my teeth are so sensitive but have managed a tepid coffee and a yoghurt, I am stunned by what I did but I was pleasantly surprised by the procedure and how slow and careful everything was and how modern and bright and spacious it was I did decline the cartoon but may prefer some music direct into my ears next time I got the funky glasses and nearly asked for a sticker too! I may ask about the laughing gas for my front extractions !! I would say to anyone having extractions give it a go with local first, I was really surprised, I am in no way looking forward to Thursday and going knowing I am having teeth out will up the anxiety levels but it needs to be done and needs to be safe for me and the dentist too and now I know I will be fully numb and won't feel the injections, Big breath out! Phew!:whirl:

I think that is the best we as nervous patients can hope for, I am pleased that even though I am still nervous and I get myself so worked up beforehand, but as long as I can find a dentist that I know will be gentle and considerate and not impatient with me, and that I can get treatment I need done I am happy.

I think you have been and are going to be so brave :respect::respect::respect: You know you cannot drink through straws at the moment don't you. Happy healing and good luck for Thursday :clover::clover::clover::butterfly:

You really are a :star:

OMG catching up a bit, and I am in awe of you - to be able to go through that on the spur of the moment - you'd be scraping me up off of the floor!! So well done you for that one:jump::jump:

I just wanted to chip in a bit over the telling people at work and family. For me, and of course everyone is different, I was extremely selective about the people I told at work. When I went back after some months, I was carrying a box of meds to the clinical room when one of the nurses 'told me off' saying that I had just had surgery, so shouldn't be carrying anything - that did make make me chuckle - I remember thinking 'if only you knew lol.

With family...... Not for anything else, as my brothers and sister all have had bad teeth the same as me plus my mum and dad - but I only initially told my eldest brother who has a denture. He was so understanding about it. My sister who is 70 now has had a complete denture for as long as I can remember, but she is very much someone who wants to blast things out to everyone, so waited for quite some time before telling her, and have only just recently told my youngest brother who is a few years older than me, but very similar in relation to my eldest brother.

There are some people I work with who I can openly talk about it to, other's I never do, and never would mention it to, so I think what I am trying to say, is that you will find your own 'comfort zone'. People are usually a bit less understanding when it comes to teeth, which is a shame, as there are so many things that people go through and suffer and get compassion for, but the whole teeth think always seems to be a different kettle of fish.

Big hugs :hug::hug::hug::hug:

Kim xx

Thanks Kim, I did check that having decided to do this I wouldn't be sectioned for being crazy:rofl:, it was fairly mad but may well be a blessing in disguise in the long run, the front six will have to be all in one go I think and will then get my immediate in, she is going to check it is ready,I don't want the grass to grow under my feet now I have started the ball rolling I need to keep going so I don't back out,
I have told my evening class mates and 2 people at work but the bosses I just told I was having some heavy duty dental work done, my family know and as we all have the same bad teeth they understand, if they ask me outright if I have dentures I will say yes, some of the work folk are new so they haven't really seen my teeth if I get them done quick enough they will not know, luckily I only work in the mornings so can get work done at lunchtime and have the rest of the day to recover I have been fine all night and just need a pain tab now before bed, thank you for much for your kind words xx
Carole no I haven't been using a straw and have managed to drink with my sensitive teeth by sticking to sipping tepid coffee xx
i ill see how I get on Thursday and what the plan is. Xxx

Went to bed after taking an ibuprofen a few hours before but it wasn't being as effective as I would have liked so took a couple of paracetamol luckily after such a busy day I went to sleep quickly:tired: but did wake in pain took some more pain relief and slept for another hour. I had asked my hubby to buy some soup for my eve meal only trouble is I hadn't thought about lunch, luckily I had made a trifle without fruit or sponge so trifle for lunch!! :giggle: Making me a bit less brave about my extractions tomorrow now after feeling sore still these sore sockets and possibly 2 more sockets to contend with :cry: but I have to do it and as not at work til Sunday I have time to start healing and feeling better before work.
:whirl:D.J

HI DeeJay, I can't begin to tell you how much your post has helped me. I am having the whole of my top jaw done on Friday and everywhere I read its being done under sedation or a GA. I am just having a local and to hear someone has done it and it was ok it such a massive relief. I hope it all goes well tomorrow for you. And thank you again

You are welcome mellc, I had my eyes shut sometimes and I didn't like the noise, they offered to put the TV on but I close my eyes, but I have some music sorted on my phone now wasn't keen on the pressure but it doesn't last long at all, I will be having all the top out, 8 and a half now to go and 5 on the bottom it's is not painful but just not nice, but there again horrible teeth and toothache is worse, you are the one in control they will go at your pace if they are a good dentist and the dental nurse will be supporting you and the dentist ,you can make a winning team I have a way to go but it might just be quicker than I thought now I have taken that big step on Tuesday. Can I take this chance to wish you all the very best with your treatment xx once that first injection or two are done ( which shouldn't hurt ask for the numbing gel stuff it's great) you just have to focus past the work they are doing sing a song, recite a poem, do times tables, list family birthdays in your head just something to distract and pass the time ( alternating pointing your toes to a rhythm in your head it's my favourite)
please let me know how you get on I will be waiting for your posting with interest :clover::clover: good luck Hun:clover::clover:
