This is the start to my new smile.

I did it!! I took out my denture cleaned it and even looked at my mouth (dont like looking at myself without top teeth ) fixative took some removing!!! Only put a little back on it scared to put too much and have already decided the minty stuff is not nice but trying to keep it away from my extraction sites just bushed my teeth with a bit of water on the brush as want to keep my mouth as undisturbed as possible, but feel happier now I have done it once and my mouth feels cleaner now too as had quite milky stuff all day to protect my stomach from the painkillers:) xx

I was at the dentist for 3 hours, my brain is puddled. :rofl:
 
Flipping heck I couldn't contemplate sitting in 'The Chair' that long unless I was plugged into loud music and laughing gas:rofl::rofl::rofl:

You are most welcome, and thank you for your support too. We did have a few giggles along the way but no gas. I am getting used to these long appointments now. It is full credit to my dentist and the nurses, they are very good. They ask all the time if I am alright and they patt me on my shoulder, they talk to me all the time too. It is really not that bad. I never thought I would be saying that. I don't like the treatment but it is pain free and the fact that my comfort comes first makes all the difference.

How are you feeling I just read you got your dentures out and back in again. I think what you have just done over the last two weeks is so much harder than anything I have done.

Saying that I do feel rather pleased with myself for doing it. And I am well chuffed with my badge :jump::jump::jump:
 
We have a great laugh in the dental room too a Celtic team, down to earth, and so supportive her claim is I come first she will do what I want and nothing is too much trouble or takes up too much time she will do what ever it takes for me to be at ease and get my healthy mouth,
I am so pleased I got my dentures In and out that was a worry and the pain meds are doing a lot to keep me comfy I can't believe how far my journey has gone since last week when I went for just a consultation 11 teeth out and a full upper immediate in 9 days. Crazy!:dunno: Heaven knows how I done it Manx cussedness and a fantastic dental team I think,
i'm getting tired now its been a long day hasn't it?
 
It has been a really long day and I too am tired. I am just too dam nosey to go to bed yet until I have caught up with what has happened today. :rofl::rofl::rofl:

This taste from the dressing is getting on my nerves a bit now, still if that is all I have to worry about I shouldn't really moan should I :naughty::naughty::naughty: :butterfly:

Doesn't hurt to moan about things sometimes makes you feel better:giggle:
i want to read everyones posts in case there is something I can say from my experiences that may help them, but I truly am whacked and don't think I can type straight:rofl:
so I will bid you all a fond goodnight:off-to-bed: cause I've only used a little denture fixative and at the rate I'm yawning my teeth may fall out:toofunny:

Well didn't have a bad sleep, disturb more by the fact I had more pillows to keep my head a little more elavated woke about 6 and needed some pain killers took paracetamol but did need ibuprofen by half 9, hubby brought me a coffee and I fell back to sleep for a while, up and went to rinse teeth flipping heck what a struggle to get the glue of the top of my mouth nothing would shift it, ended up with gentle and cautious toothbrush skills stroked it off my palate so tried today without and it's not been too bad but a big yawn slackens them:laugh:
they don't feel quite so massive today and I think keeping them in over night helped my tongue and brain get used to them, I am back at work tomorrow ( day 3) but maximum of 5 hours then can come home and chill out. Can't chew anything even slightly as my bite is so way off but that should resolve when I get the bottom set done, just not very good at eating desserts and missing savoury, but all in all not too bad showed hubby my look without teeth he thinks its rather cute:redface::giggle:, he's so sweet. My auntie says I'm her new hero:superman:. Bless her xxox hope everyone is ok?
 
Day 3 after my extractions and denture placement,
went to work on just paracetamol they were very sweet to me and the two girls that I know well wanted to see so I did a big smile they were amazed how nice they looked, Boss didn't think I had them done he thought the front teeth were my own:giggle:. All helps with the confidence,
couple of tender spots on taking them out and putting back in but just like when putting on shoes past a blister once on its ok, can't really chew had a little practice when I mauled a banana into submission for breakfast and slowly managed some warm soft quiche at lunch but talk about a leisurely lunch!! It took ages!
took a ibuprofen just now as all that chomping left my gums throbbing a bit and I know ibuprofen when taken regular acts as an a inflammatory too,
going to make Jelly Fluff this afternoon so it can set for evening meal, Hope you are all keeping well:)

It can only get better from here. I am so pleased that your teeth look so natural and that you are gaining in confidence. I really am in awe of you, what you have done would have scared me as much as it did you but you did it :respect::respect::respect::respect::respect::respect::respect: You may have pain at times and the odd little niggle to deal with until things settle down for you, but you are doing so well. :yayy::claps::claps::claps::butterfly:

trying to stay positive about it all as I think that's the best way and I knew it wouldn't be easy, I still have that appointment card that we were sorting on that first day ( for mid June) the day I turned round marched back in there and got 2 teeth pulled still can't quite believe where I have got to now 11 extractions and a immediate upper all in the last 12 days, think you just get to a point and luckily my dentist has picked up on that and has ploughed forward and kept the ball rolling, maybe it's just insanity :tease:but whatever it was may it continue til everything is sorted and maybe help others ready to take the plunge too, and it's fantastic you can come on this forum and write down your story and be among people who know where you're coming from.:)

I know I have had so much help and education from coming on here. It makes you feel you are not a freak and on your own. It gives you a strength to know that there is someone to have a moan to and they understand. We might not have all the answers but understanding goes a along way.

I couldn't believe it when I read you thread the day you had had the first two teeth out. Then to follow it up and come so far, it never ceases to amaze me what the people on here get done.

I think we just get to a point and think enough is enough. And like you say in a moment of madness or defiance we just march on in there and whamo the job gets done. :butterfly:
 
Day 5
went for my check up today to see how I was healing, as its so early she doesn't want to do any alteration of the denture just yet as I am still healing and things will change as the sockets heal and the gums shrink, but everything is going well, planning on doing the bottom in 23 days time 5 extractions and a partial, I can't wait my bite is obviously set up for both dentures together so can't really do much biting til then I m trying but it only meets with one other tooth but I hadn't stopped me from having a go, I do have to watch I do not put too much vacuum on the top set as it makes my gums throb but after only 5 days its going to, I have my sugar free baby teething gel for the places that are catching a bit,
Bit like stilettos, look great, can manage fairly well with them, they rub a bit and its nice when it's just you and it's quiet, to be with out them if just for half n hour :rofl::rofl:,
I left them out for the whole time I slept last night this was a first, I was too worried if my gums swelled I wouldn't get them back in and would have to go to work gummy! It did take about half an hour for them to feel comfy again, my speech is getting a bit better I have been singing aloud as much as possible but should prove interesting at language class tonight,:giggle: trying to compose a paragraph of speech with as few S's in as possible!!

Are you having the 5 teeth out with just local again?
 
Done alright at class they were rather impressed, we had to read sentences out loud and translate them so lots of speaking, yes I I'll be having 5 back teeth out with just local again:frantic:
 
You are doing so well, I know there are probably times when you may get a bit frustrated, but you really are an inspiration to other people that may be in your position, and the position you were in :respect::respect::respect::respect::respect: :perfect::wow::claps::claps::claps::claps::claps::yayy::butterfly:
 
Arrh thanks Carole, it really is just our minds making this so bad, heightened by old memories of bad dentistry experiences and/ or fear of the unknown,
you know my little twirly girl?:whirl: I am going to do this when my treatment has been completed:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:
I have been told in 6 months when everything has settled she will help me get a new custom to my liking set of toothies however I want them, shades, shapes with or without gaps, crossed tips if i want or from a previous photo, I'm going start looking for photos. and people slam the NHS ??

Yes there are faults within the nhs but my experience lately and throughout my life has been that there are more nice people than nasty. I think most people have fallen foul of the nasty at times, but I find you have to judge the individual at the time and take the nice and appreciate it all the more. We all know everyone is under pressure and run off their feet, but you can run and smile and a few kind words and deeds go a long way.

You deserve a nice set of teeth, I am really pleased for you. I think a lot of the time if they can see that we are trying and putting in the effort they go the extra mile for us back.

I think we both had a very good and positive appointment yesterday. Big steps forward in the final treatment plan.
