IMMEDIATE LOWER PARTIAL
As I feel at the moment I would possibly have had a break between extraction and denture placement?? I'm not sure, I have a couple of really sore spots that I don't know are injection sites that are getting rubbed by the denture or just rubbed areas but they are not nice, one throbs and makes me cringe when I lifted denture out for salt rinse and made me bury my head in a towel on replacement,:hankie: today the salt water rinse was stinging it:cry:
but I will put up with it it will get better and I will see the dentist on Thursday, still going to keep it in overnight as with it being so sore I don't want it to swell and cause more problems,:eek: upper was easier by far in comparison but it's only day 2, can't believe I done the big scale job on the front too:jump: but as she said it saves me being numbed up again and I remember my last scale years ago left the back of my teeth so rough it was cutting my tongue, this fantastic dentist has left them so smooth they are brilliant, so is she:respect:. So patient with me, it's just such a pity she doesn't take on regular patients just referrals :(
Oh well least I know the great level that dentistry has now reached and the level I now expect to receive.

Day 3,
Sore today:cry:
5 ulcers in various places making removal and replacement a bit of an ordeal try to time it round painkiller time, back to work tomorrow but only do 5 hours so can come home and hide under my duvet if needs be, just struggling with my normal fairly positive outlook today but it is Sunday so I'm having a day off!!!!!( don't normally publicly point out my woes but want this journal to show the true side for others who might read it) and tomorrow is another day.

I know from reading here that people seem to have problems with the lower dentures. I think they are really tricky but it is good that you are going to see the dentist on Thursday. It is a shame you can't see her all the time but as you have said at least now you have a guide as to what you expect. AND DON'T YOU LOWER IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think some people have found that if they use some of the stuff you stick the dentures in with can help with the sores, but I am not sure it it is for the top ones, I think they use it on the bottom too.

yes they seem to be worse, I don't think they move in general as the wires are fairly tight on my front teeth maybe a pressure sore? I take each day as it happens and work will be a distraction, may take them out for a little while this evening once I've rinsed after my evening meal, when I put them in one side sits down easier than the other so think it's just tight, going to pop my gum gel in the fridge so it's cool for later as I can't manage a roast hubby has bought me some salmon to go with a jacket potato and some sauce or mayo so a nice treat,

This is a new sensation, I have tongue ache :giggle: no it's not that funny really still sweating it out with the ulcers and my tongue doesn''t know it's place or something and i get aches in my temples too, my speech is awful and I keep getting mis heard on the phone, leaving the denture out even for half an hour causes pain on replacing not attempted overnight yet:eek: keeping up the salty rinses and just going to try paracetamol okay as my tummy is queasy not sure if it is rebelling the ibuprofen! Roll on Thursday when I see dentist.
 
Yep the bottom dentures sure are tricky little devils aren't they. All I can say is keep going, you will get there. It must be so annoying after you did so well with the top ones :grouphug::hug5::grouphug::hug5::grouphug::hug5::friends::friends::friends::butterfly:
 
Thanks Carole yes top were a chore these are damn hard work, silly little things they will not beat me, the fight is not done yet!!:mad:
 
A lot of people have had a few ups and downs with a top set of dentures, but they do seem to say that the bottom is a real nightmare at times. I really hope you can get to grips with the bottom ones. I am sure you will as you are very determined.

You are bigger than them, beat them into submission if you have to. I did know someone that actually did jump up and down on the bottom set, she doesn't come on here now but she had a real time with hers. If I find her thread I will link it here for you.

This is the first post I have made even though I have been reading posts here for over a year, in fact it won't be long and it will be two years. I think I couldn't post because it felt like if I did I (in my own mind) would have to make that step forward and go to a dentist. Its a bit of a long...

least I get to dentist tomorrow so will grill her for some answers, advice and anything else, left them out last night overnight as not sure if I am holding my tongue and jaw funny something is causing aches it wasn't nice putting them back in but the pain didn't last for lon,g my top set take a few mins to bed in first thing so talk about chattering teeth I came down the stairs like a set of castanets:toofunny:

The lady in the thread is now fine with her teeth so she did get used to them eventually. There is hope, I am crossing everything more for you now, and you know the power of the crossing club don't you?

Hi, I have been reading your thread and feel so sorry for you. As you know I had all my top out then only the left hand side of the bottom, having the other half out on June 18th, only four left to come out.

I managed to get MRSA so haven't been on for a while. seem to be on the mend now although a bit hairy at first.

I haven't got my bottom dentures in yet, so hanging on your every word.

You have come so far, and at least its all over now and you DID it. But I know just how you feel, the two things in life I LOVE is talking and food and neither are good at the moment.

I'm thinking of you and hoping each day will be better than the previous one. :)
 
Thank you, sorry to hear you had a bug, thought you'd not been about, nice to see you back:hug5::grouphug:so it's a full lower you are getting? I have heard of 4 people today( local) that gave up on theirs but I am determined to get through it, there has been some on here lately that don't wear theirs either cause they are sore but I am hopeful that my dentist will sort something out tomorrow but least she is willing to work with me apart from maybe some re- lines and later my custom made permanents I am done with this fantastic dentist ( which is a pity) but she will see me through to my new smile first and I hope she will call me back to check up on my healing regularly. But these bottom ones are tricky little beggars I hope you have a bit more luck than me. I had just got onto eating bread and pasta and chips and now back on ice cream, soup or porridge and my speech was really good but that was over 3 + weeks so I'm only on day 7, I have to keep reminding myself of that!! What we are doing is rather hardcore really so we are doing ok I think on the whole, it has to be sorted and I would have hated any of my teeth to have fallen out and they were heading that way, and these sores are not as bad as a night of toothache, blessings come in all sizes and sometimes the smaller ones are just, if not more rewarding! And if I fill my head with worry there will be no space left for dreams:)

Well my fantastic dentist has solved some of the tender bits she didn't like the ulcers I had and zipped the rough spots away and loosened the wire support and even put some numbing gel on the worse bit before replacing the denture:jump:
i have an official appointment in September to start sorting the permanents and cause of some sensitivity has prescribed some flouride toothpaste to protect my remaining,
i'm to go back if I have any sore spots, I am physically and mentally relieved.

I wish you could keep your dentist, like me when they are done they are done. At least you get to keep her for a bit longer. You will find a nice dentist to go to after this, ask her if she can recommend anyone to you, she might know someone just as nice as she is.

I hope it all gets easier now for you. Hopefully with the numbing stuff giving your gums a bit of a rest from the pain, and her filing your dentures down it might not feel as bad. I am still all crossed up for you, I don't think I will ever be straight again :rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

least now I can take them out for a rest without the having the pains putting them back in, obviously the sore areas are still sore but they will soon heal, and I can snap them down into position before I come downstairs looking like some bizarre flamenco dancer all dressing gown hems and clattering teeth!!!:LMAO:
i don't really have an option on a dentist I guess I will need to get used to my one that referred me up for sedation but I will ask her but if I require anything big doing will ask to see her, I need to go find some pictures of my teeth ( not sure I have any) she will make my new ones using photos as a guide.
and I agree I think I'm staying crossed, need to get an 'everything crossed smiley':giggle:. X x x
