I am a huge dental phobic myself and as a result have had to and still have to go through a lot od dental work to sort out my mouth hence i am very worried about keeping my childrens teeth clean i dont want them ending up like me! The problem i have is with my 16 month old daughter , she will not let me brush her teeth properly no matter what I try ..i manage to get the brush in and have a quick scrub up and down but thats really it , she bites the brush so i cant move it and cries. She dosnt talk just yet so explaning isnt possible, she also still has a bottle before she goes to bed...im driving myself mad with worry that shes going to be getting cavities ,...is there anything else i can do/use to help her?

Relax and don't make a big issue of it. The more she knows she's getting a response from you the more she'll play up. A bottle at bedtime isn't that big of a deal for now either. I assume you're not adding sugar to it though!
Otherwise I leave it to Mike, who's kids are far nearer to this age than mine are!

Hi Libs,

I would just let her se at every opportunity, that brushing teeth is a family affair, so let her se you do it. have you tried using a baby toothbrush that resembles her fav cartoon/tv character? Have you tried brushing your teeth together? let her see whats involved. Or take it in turns.......ie...she brushes her teeth first for a minute then you brush them for her?
If you have tried these, then im sorry for the questions.
