TMJ + pain when biting down??

I recently stopped using my NTI for about five nights (I'd forgotten it when I went on vacation). Now, one of my back molars (or more than one, I can't really tell) hurts when I bite down sometimes. It doesn't happen all the time and it hurts less often now since I've been wearing my NTI for the last two nights. Could the pain be related to my clenching? Should I wait and see if it subsides?

Most likely that it is to do with the clenching, see what happens in a day or 2.
