Today is Day 9 for me after having a cyst removed from my jaw bone and a buried wisdom tooth extracted under local anaesthetic. The swelling has further reduced and the bruising is fairly light now. My antibiotics are finished and I am taking no pain medication except 2 paracetamol at night. However, I can’t open my mouth any wider than to feed myself with a teaspoon and I am waking up in the night and in the morning tasting blood which is really just blood stained saliva. The blood staining is worse in the morning but clears up quite quickly. Prior to this experience I had an appointment with my own dentist for tooth pain which was apparently caused by me grinding my teeth subconsciously and/or at night.
I’m concerned that I’m biting on the area in my sleep and this is causing the bleeding. I’m hoping that I’m now over the risk of a dry socket, the thought of which terrifies me, thank you google! I am gently cleaning my teeth but avoiding the sutured area and using Corsodyl mouthwash.
I am due to fly to Portugal on Tuesday for a week but I’m scared that the flight will affect or dislodge the clot or that if the bleeding continues or gets worse I’ll have to see a dentist there. I’m terrified to go back to the dental clinic as the experience was horrendous!
Any advice regarding the night time bleeding and flying would be greatly appreciated.
