Why so SLOW??

Hi, quick re cap: August: visited NHS dentist, registered, x-rays done, told my right hand upper back molar was in a bad way and needed treatment or extraction. Antibiotics given. Next visit: TWO wisdom teeth yanked out whilst fully conscious from upper back LEFT and third tooth broken in two. Ouch. Changed dentists. New dentist nice enough, further treatment to mend broken tooth with filling and other filllings done on left side. Dentist left sharp edge on bottom tooth that cut my tongue so had to go back and have it filed down by a different dentist at same practice. All fine but ll this took FIVE seperate appointments so now it's December. But, I say, my right hand upper is still giving me problems. Dentist put a filling in. (sixth appointment) Not worked. SEVENTH appointment. Felt bubble (possible abscess?) on gum on problem tooth and in alot of throbbing pain. - told £850 quid for a root canal treatment to save tooth or extraction. Temporary bit of cotton wool filling thing put in. So, from August diagnosis till December and original diagnosed problem is STILL A PROBLEM. What is going ON?????????? I have bad eye twitching - is this cos the nerve of the dying problem tooth is playing up?? Anyone else been pushed from pillar to post by NHS??? It's a bit of a joke. Think will proably end up having to go see specialist re that problem tooth. What a rigmarole!! And everytime I have an "emergency appointment" it will of course cost £17.50. Are they all working together to make money out of our enamel?? I am getting quite paranoid. Help. only positive thing to come out of this is that I can't eat properly and seeing as I am really overweight, may result in me losing some pounds. Could it be a new government initiative to help fatties via diabolical dentists???

I think you have been extremely unlucky, find another competent dentist that is interested in your well being. I have had a few problems myself and had to find a new dentist myself.

It can feel like a hard and scary slog but you can get there in the end. Don't give up trying, I am nhs but it does seem a good dentist is a good dentist whether or not they are private. If you find one that cares and is willing to work with you it makes all the difference.

I really hope you manage to find a dentist that is good for you and that you get the work done that you are needing.

Well my current dentist is really OK especially compared to my old one! I think he may just be erring on the side of caution re upper dodgy tooth as it is extremely hard to get to and guess he doesn't want to put me through what I experienced with the other dentist. Posted mainly to get things out of my head and re-reading it I guess it's not too serious compared to my initial nightmare with the devil dentist! Temp filling still in place and it's sure making my diet easier to stick to!!! Thanks X
