Hi, Im E!
(somehow graphic depictions of stuff down here so be warned!)

From what I see I've got around 10 cavities! I never liked looking inside my mouth and i do it rarely because if i do then i WILL panic and freak out. And so i did, and so im here.
Ive been scared of going to the dentist for YEARS. Its mostly because of my very poor oral hygiene (i didnt brush my teeth for months at a time for reasons. ). Nowdays my oral hygiene is actually really good (ive been brushing, flossing and using mouthwash each day for around 2 months straight which is really good for me) but of course the colour (and the cavities) stayed. My teeth are very yellow. The cavities are very worrying. No pain, but i know i have to get them checked out eventually. Im just really REALLY terrified of the judgment. I will literally start internally dying in the dentists chair if they as much as mention "you couldve been brushing better". Last time that i had a big freakout about the cavities (which was months ago...) i said to myself: "if i have a 30 day streak of brushing every day ill go to the dentist!" but as you can hear that hasnt worked out so well. I just genuinely dont know how to get over this. I cant tell anyone because it feels too... embarassing for me i guess? But i also can't go to the dentist on my own because Im not legally of age yet. Plus even if i could go on my own i wouldnt cuz itd be too scary to hear every mean remark they say. What do i do? I know 10 cavities is bad but i dont know HOW bad it is. Do i still have time to wait until i reach an acceptable state of my teeth? Obviously the yellow wont dissapear but maybe itll get slightly more acceptable... I just dont know what to do. Ive been dealing with stuff like this for a few years now and i just wish i couldve changed something in the far past that wouldnt make me hate brushing as much as it did.

Welcome E

From my experience, i haven't encountered a dentist making mean statements and I think it's somewhat rare nowadays so I wouldn't worry about it. An x-ray and examination can take super fast, like even a few minutes if you want to zip in and out. About as much as I'm able to do.

Hope you find some answers. I doubt anything yet is particularly dangerous without any pain ever, but not a doctor. Only a dentist or similar can answer that though, as you know.

==nothing I say should be considered to be true medical advice, i am not a dentist or a professional==

Hello E , :welcome: as Jakesmith said :) We are glad you are here. you are in the company of those who really get this! first off, definately give yourself So much credit , it sounds like you are doing a really good job on your oral care and even have that goal if you do that30 days you go. Sounds like a motivator. Fear of shame is really a hard one, I have certainly dealt with that. One thing that has helped me is face booking and writing the office before telling them you deal with shame and it's taking a lot to get up the courage.. and see how they respond.. You may get a few answers that will ease your mind. Take one step at a time and if they treat you bad, you can always escape out the back door.. ( speaking from experience) You deserve to be treated kindly and I think like Jake said it is more rare these days, always remember you have the power to walk away if they don't treat you right.
