I have a tooth that is set to be extracted. I have been waiting on my consult for sedation.

Unfortunately that tooth now has a bump above it. I’ve never had pain in the tooth, including now. I am flying a week from today. What’s the best approach for dealing with this? Flying soon after an extraction seems like a not great idea. Would antibiotics buy some time?

If you can get it removed up to 48 hrs before you go, do it, there's zero risk from flying with a fresh socket. The 48 hr bit is to cover you for a dry socket. They almost always show up very quickly after an extraction and the extra day gives you time to have it treated if a dry socket does happen.

As you say antibiotics might buy a bit of time, the flying bit isn't a big deal, but having toothache on holiday sucks :-)

Most unlikey this will cause smptoms on holiday. The bump will burst and form a small sinus and eventually repeat
