Hi - I'll try and keep this concise and ask for non judgemental help for someone who has got themselves into a serious situation with their oral health.
Long story short, I've had a lifetime dental fear and have gone to great lengths to avoid addressing the consequences of this. I can no longer do this. I am in a situation where I need treatment urgently, but I face issues of prfound shame that I allowed this to happen, fear of how to get help, fear of what costs any emergency treatment will cost (I am kind of off grid with any health services and I feel I'm going to need to find a place that can help me asap).
Longer term issues of treatment, costs, what I'm going to have to potentially go through are I fear for another day.
My first point of contact was via the email support of this forum, but I realise I need to seek wider support and not burden a single individual (who has been very supportive).
I'm located near to Plymouth and ideally need to find somewhere that can help me in the coming week. I appreciate any advice, support etc. I will post this and then come back later today - I'm in a fragile state and taking any steps are hard, but I can't run from this any longer.

. It sounds as if you went the most challenging route by seeing an "ordinary" NHS dentist for an emergency appointment rather than NHS special care services (I presume? correct me if I'm wrong! It would help to know which systems you were using and how you came to see that particular dentist).
. Though from my own Google/AI search, it appears as if emergency services and special care are delivered by the same Social Enterprise in Cornwall, which makes it a bit odd that they didn't pick up on how strong your fear is.
