Hi everybody, if anybody has had this procedure "Alveoloplasty" could you please give me your experience with it.

For those that dont know what it is, its where the dentist has to smooth out any bumps or bone that has grown outwards on the ridge or gums?

I am having 7 extractions and the Alveoloplasty procedure done on 4-5 different areas.

Cant remember to ask the dentist all the different questions, i guess they do the extractions first? he did say all 7-teeth will come out the same day, i see on the forum people get twice that ammount done in some cases.

My other issue, i am nervous about getting suffiicient novicaine or whatever the name is lidocaine?

i am gonna ask for nitrous oxide also, dont know if i am covered with medicaid though they are paying for the full dentures and all the work, plus two implants in the bottom front to get better retention, i feel so happy i cant tell you and am very very greatfull this all got approved allready.

Funny thing, alveoplasty is big on the US side of the Atlantic, but here in Europe it's almost never done. From the couple of times I've done it, the patient didn't think it was that big a deal, basically there's some vibration and some pressure, but it's not that bad.
It's done after the extractions, you need to see what the gum ridges are going to look like after the extractions so you can work out what bone needs to be removed.

If the teeth are numb enough to take out, then there's no issue with being numb enough for the alveoplasty.
