My son had crown placed on his baby tooth (molar) today ( in was hurting on and off before that) . He just woke up from sleep crying in pain from that tooth. Dentis didn't remove any decay just placed the crown on top . Is that normal? Can the tooth be hurting after placing crown?

Hi Patiku,
Sorry to hear your son is having this pain. It must be a worrying time for you. The technique you described is a current and well regarded way of treating decayed baby molars.

Hopefully, in your son's case the pain will rapidly settle down. However, if it does not, then definitely ask the dentist to take a look as he may have an infection if the tooth is dead.
Hope this helps

Thank you very much for reply. It is really nice of you. What suprised me is that they have not cleaned the tooth before placing the cap on it. He had some decay there. He is complaining of pain on and off now but is not as bad as before the crowns.
