Bite feels uneven after extraction

Hello, just want to start off by saying what a great site this is, has helped me tremedously! Two weeks ago, I had an infected molar pulled from bottom right jaw. Thank goodness that pain is gone! (I hope it never comes back)! The site is healing fine, but the teeth surround it feel strange. The tooth behind it (A wisdom tooth which has never given me problems) feels like it's taller (sometimes I think it's the tooth in front of the site that is clashing with my top teeth). It's hard to tell which, but point is, my bite feels off. Is this normal? That back tooth isn't sensitive to hot or cold or anything, but if I bite down on it it feels a little sore (not an infection type pain, just a little tender).

Also wanted to add, if it makes a difference, while painless, it was a difficult extraction and it took a while to get it out.

Hi Stacy, I think I know what you mean. I had a first lower molar extracted and afterwards the molar behind it was a little sore around the gums and the premolar in front of the big gap it left felt too big and strange to chew on and when I brushed my teeth it even felt like something I wanted to spit out! you get used to it in time. when a tooth is extracted you also lose a little bit of gum tissue from the neighboring teeth and it makes them a little more exposed than they were before and it will feel strange for a while.

I agree with ScaredyCat22, I think it's a normal sensation that gets better over time. I had my wisdom teeth out back in October, and my bite felt slightly off for the first couple of months. I was worried something might have shifted.

Six months later and I'm back to normal now.
