Buccal Abscess Leading to Gums After Oral Surgery?

I'm flipping out about this. I had oral surgery to extract tooth #4 on Friday. I had swelling in my cheek, which I attributed to that. This morning I'm inspecting the area and there's this redness with a yellow center in the area between my gum and cheek, with redness leading to the gums. I was given amoxicillin and the area was cleaned out. I don't know how this happened. Called the oral surgeon but he's at his other office an hour away until Thursday! Does anyone know if this looks like a real abscess or possibly something inflammatory? Thanks

It's kind of hard to say from that photo, but it looks like an abscess maybe from the molar?

@Gordon You mean tooth #3? That would be impossible because there are no cavities, let alone deep decay that could lead to a peri apical abscess in that tooth. I thought maybe it was coming from the extraction site on #4 but the redness doesn’t track to the site. It goes to the gums around #5,6. But if it originated from one of those teeth, you would see it directly above them in the gum, not off to the side on the cheek. It’s a great mystery
