Chrome denture

Could anyone tell me if they have had any experience of a Chrome Upper Denture.How do they work,without suction and how are they attached?Do they need fixative?

Partial or complete denture (i.e. are there still some teeth up there or not?), there's a big difference!

Well I have a denture at the moment on the top with one tooth at one side and 2 teeth at the other.My dentist said in the future we could look at implants or a chrome denture, maybe with clasps?

OK, in my experience a chrome partial is about as good as dentures can get, they're well tolerated by the patient because they're thin and they transmit hot and cold through them well. They're usually very stable and retentive, you do not need fixative with one unless it's been badly made.

The trouble with them is that they are relatively expensive and take a bit of skill to make well.

Thanks for the info.I have complete trust in my private dentist and his team,but what I wanted to know is how it would be attatched to the other teeth?I can't seem to get my head round it.What would happen if these teeth fail, and also would I be able to take it out and put it back in easily?

I forgot to answer your question about if you have a partial, yes I think it is. I think if you have one to a few teeth on a denture it is a partial, but if all the teeth are on a denture I think that is a full one.

I am laughing because the words 'I think that is a full one', I typed quickly thinking that will make it right. You know when you aren't right sure of something and say it quickly it kinda think it makes it right. I know what I mean, sorry if I have just confused you. I am having my own little moment here.

Hopefully someone with a bit more sense than me at the moment will come along and answer you.

YEP I was right, if you go on the links tab at the top of this page it explains that a partial is a plate that fills gaps left from missing teeth. Scroll down to the Dentures Information and support and click on it.

Carole is correct. A partial fits around some remaining teeth.
Most chrome dentures are held in by wire clasps that wrap around the remaining teeth, occasionally they can clip onto the teethbymeans of 'precision attachments' but these are considerably more expensive.
If the teeth fail then the denture fails I'm afraid.
