Crack or fracture

Hello! I had a crown placed on a back molar the end of September. About a month later I started having a sharp pain on bite and it became really sensitive—I nearly jumped out of my seat when the endo did the cold test. This sharp biting pain was never something I felt before in other teeth so I knew it wasn’t the neuralgia. As you can see I’ve had root canal after root canals, extractions, and an implant in that area all due to atypical odontología. This feels different from all of those due to the sharp pain.

I had a root canal Monday.

I am completely pain free from cold now but I cannot chew hard food like crackers on the tooth. I get a sharp pain when I bite something hard — especially on the front right of the tooth. The biting pain feels more sharp than before the root canal. The pain comes when I bite down and not when I release the bite. Does not hurt with soft foods.

Could this mean the tooth is cracked and needs to come out? Or is it likely still sore from the root canal on Monday? I just have never had a tooth with this sharp biting pain after root canal before. Tooth also exhibits a somewhat dull pain otherwise. That feels more normal to me following a root canal. Does not wake me at night.

Dentist adjusted the bite so that the tooth is out of contact. The endo says the sharp pain can be normal (which makes me think it really isn’t and he doesn’t want to worry me ).

I have been testing it with hard food and probably haven’t given it much time to heal. The Endodontist said he saw no cracks or fractures when doing the root canal. And the dentist did not when crowning the tooth. Cbct scans from both dentists look good.

I’m just so scared.

Seems to be an epidemic of these right now.
It could be either the endo or a crack, there is no way to tell just now. Give it some time if you can, if it's the endo it'll get better over the weekend. If it's cracked, it won't

It’s so hard playing the waiting game. I have for sure been chewing hard food and tapping to test it so I’m sure that’s not helping with the healing. I’ll try and leave it alone for a few days if the anxiety allows me to. Thank you, Gordon

Testing it won't really make any difference, so try not to worry about that too much.

Meant to say, it looks like a nice root canal filling.
