Hi,
I'm currently 8 weeks pregnant. About 3 months ago I had an extraction under sedation. The dentist said that I had some other work which needed doing to avoid other extractions or root canals (fillings I assume). None of them are causing me pain at the moment but if I leave them then they could get to the stage where they do need large amounts of work and I don't want to be in that amount of pain again while not being able to take much in the way of painkillers!!
I do have bad teeth because I am very calcium deficient due to malabsorption issues. I am quite young (26) and this will be my first baby after 1 miscarriage last year. Obviously I will tell my dentist about the bub but his bedside manner is pretty shocking so I would also like to switch (good idea at the moment or should I stick with someone who knows my history). I would also rather like to make use of the fact that I get free dental treatment at the moment, if it's safe to do so?!! :-D
My question is what dental treatment can I have while pregnant? Obviously sedation is out of the question but what is the procedure when it comes to fillings and is all of it safe and non-scary?!
Thanks!!
