Denture questions...??

I have to get a few teeth pulled and am going to get a partial denture. I've been researching about immediate dentures but I'm confused. I read immediate dentures can help with healing. I also saw that your jaw can change shape in the healing process. If I get an immediate denture, is that the one they make adjustments to if it doesn't fit properly? What about the swelling I may have? I know they take measurements and such but will my partial denture be as 'crooked' as my natural teeth are? If they take a mold of my natural teeth for an immediate denture, the mold will be as crooked as my teeth. If I get a wire type one, will that damage my teeth? Will I get food under it? So many questions and my dentist is unavailable right now. I think of all this stuff afterwards of course. Ahhh, any advice is greatly appreciated!

I had an immediate denture. No there will be no gaps it will be a full row of straight nice looking teeth. They did my impressions with my ugly broken and missing teeth and my immediates are very nice. You will have some swelling initially which is normal your dentist will tell you about it. In a couple weeks as your swelling goes down you will have your dentures adjusted to fit the changes in your mouth but it in no way affects the look of the teeth on it. I don’t know about a wire type denture I have a standard type I haven’t heard of wire dentures?

They will adjust your dentures to fit well and feel good as many times as you need so I wouldn’t worry too much about it. Ask your dentist questions so you can hear them straight from him and feel assured.

When I talk about the wire, I'm referring to the wire that hooks onto your molars I'm assuming. I'm getting some front teeth removed

Ohhh you’re getting a partial then? Thats different than a denture altogether but it can be adjusted, yes and it will look nice.

You will be able to talk but you will need to practice and adjust to forming your words a little differently. I practiced by reading out loud in private or talking to myself in my car. Counting in the sixties helps to overcome lisping issues. It’s an adjustment but you will adapt.

There are a few channels on YouTube where people talk openly about adjusting to their dentures with extractions - immediate's and then onto permanent dentures. I did a lot of research because i'm worried i might need a partial. The impression i get is that a lisp in your speech is to be expected at first and normally with work it can mostly go away after a week or two. You also have to learn how to eat again and take smaller bites and will salivate like crazy, then go very dry in the mouth and then return to normal over several months and your immediates will need regular adjustment as your gums shrink and will probably need adhesive too.

I think immediates and especially lowers are more prone to getting a little food under them and you might have to discretely remove them and clean it out after a meal.
