Has anyone had lower ones like these removed?I am petrified if I have to have these done due to the fact I would have major nerve damage which could be permanent.I am also at the ripe age of 34.I wish my dentist had told me to have these done much younger before they got this big!!!!Would like to know of any survival stories.Mine are also partially erupted if that helps. Thanks!!!!

Almost all lower wizzies have 2 roots. They can't possibly be "wrapped around your jaw bone" and the fact that they're partially erupted means they should be far enough away from your nerve bundle that there's very little chance of nerve damage in their removal.

The current guidelines for removal of third molars are pretty clear, there is no advantage in removing them early "just in case" of problems so there was no reason to remove them before.

34 is young btw :-)

Re: Double-Rooted wrapped around jawbone wisdom te

Thank-you all for responding.I feel so much better for now!The panorex that showed what my dentist described was taken 7 years ago and they weren't erupted then and I have yet to get a new one.I know I'm young but I have a very old mouth.I had 6 crowns at the age of 20.I had apicoectomys at 24 on 3 front lowers(same area as crowns) and now they are re-infected and four will now have to be extracted!!!Now I am getting dentures until I decide on implants.

34 is young? Thanks Gordon made my day now! [smiley=jumping.gif]

Original poster, I just had 4 wisdom teeth pulled last Monday, and I'm the same age as you. So far, the only trouble has been one stitch got the surrounding area all inflammed, but that wasn't too much of a deal. I got it pulled out this am.

If you are nervous, for sure go with IV sedation or general anaesthetic.

BTW- you sound like me so much. I've lost count on how many root canals I've had, and not all were successful. I'll likely be a young denture wearer, as implants are well out of reach for me financially.
