I am very thankful to find this sight. I am very nervous about this procedure. I am 33 have braces and have already done the exposure with the bracket. After a year nothing. The oral surgeon said the tooth did not appear to be anklyosed and that is why he put the chain on the tooth instead of extract it. Anyway, I had to change oral surgeons and now I am planning on extracting this tooth and will do a partial and follow up with an implant when I have the money for it. I had a consult with the oral surgeon but I am still nervous. I am also getting a bone graft.

I am very nervous of nerve damage and losing the neighbor teeth. I have been in braces for so long I would hate to lose teeth. The impacted cuspid k9 is not in a weird position and I can see a bit of the tooth. I am scared of the pain too. What should I expect.

Thanks for your replies.

Extraction of a lower canine tooth usually isn't associated with nerve damage as far as I have seen. There shouldn't be a risk of losing the adjacent teeth from extracting it either unless there is something I'm missing from not seeing the xray. :-? It's too bad they couldn't orthodontically bring the tooth into place.
