Extraction on broken tooth

Hi
I have seen dentist and he said that the tooth would need to be root canaled but as the tooth was previously broken and patched up so to say he couldn't guarantee the firm attachment of the crown and could become a regular visit to keep getting it re apllied
So said extraction would be the best way forward

Questions I have

I am in no pain there is no abcess the xray he said showed slight infection and the discomfort I'd had a month prior was probably the nerve dying

So since my appointment 3 weeks ago I am still in no pain and no abcess evident
No aversion to hot or cold or eating so feels normal


Also if the tooth comes out will it damage the teeth either side of it

My next inspection is in November didn't know whether to wait till then see what occurs

Not convinced but suppose the dentists knows his stuff.
Tooth is one in from left on side elevation and first one down from last amalgam filling

My next inspection appointment is in November didn't know whether to wait till then see if its OK or if anything occurs in between?

Hi,

I can't tell much from these photo's but I assume that if the dentist prefers the tooth extracted there is a reason for that. Usually these small molars can be challenging to cap, especially when their are broken beneath the gum-line.
There is a chance that during the extraction the neighbouring teeth (especially its fillings) be damaged. If it does, it is possible to fix it on the spot.

Hopefully that does not happen

I find it strange there is no obvious symptoms though is that normal but all happening under the skin so to speak?

Had a white dot appear earlier today but gone now any explanation?

I guess asking is there an issue here still?

The white spot can be a supportive fistula which means that the inflammation can find its way outside the tissue. That can explain why it is not hurting (the inflammation does not accumulate in a closed compartment hence less pressure). The fistula can grow bigger and smaller but will always remain there as long as the source of the infection is still there.

OK thank you for the reply so I need to get it removed then still even. Though no symptoms? I was hoping it had resolved its self or it was OK

I'll ask dentist to have another check first on Thursday before he removes it to settle my. Mind and convince me etc

Yes. The tooth is a source of constant infection which keeps your immune system busy and damages its tissues.

Hopefully it will be a easy extraction and can move on
I get quite nervous about issues in the mouth
