I felt so relieved at having gone to the dentist and getting a treatment plan in place after years of anxiety and shame around not going but now that the treatment has happened I just feel so much worse. It was excruciating. I was given oral sedation and told I would "sleep through it" and "not remember it"--yeah right. Sure, I don't remember getting in my bf's car to go to the appointment, but I sure do remember the appointment sure enough--coming to only minutes in feeling like I was being stabbed, crying, begging them to stop, choking on my own spit, hyperventilating, and the novacaine just NOT working in general even as they did more and more shots and gave me more and more meds to try to get me to knock out. Each time would knock me out for a bit more then I would wake up, freak out, rinse and repeat 6 or 7 times, at one point they just stopped trying to numb it more or give me more anxiety meds and just kept going while I cried. It was the worst dental experience I had ever had because with the sedation meds, literally the only sensation I had was pain and I wasn't *there* enough to try to distract myself or reassure myself. I have had a root canal with only xanax and that was 10x better and less painful than this.

Then I heard my friend telling reception he was there to pick me up and at that point I blacked out and woke up 4 hours later passed out on my couch with vague memories of being really pissed off in the car ride home. I have worse hangxiety than I've ever had after blacking out from drinking, it hurts to talk, all my teeth hurt too much to eat even pho with soggy rice noodles so I am so so hungry, and I want everyone to leave me alone and stop asking me questions. Idk if it is a side effect of the meds but I am in one of the meanest angriest moods I have ever been in. I know being hungry cannot be helping but I am so afraid of particles getting stuck in my gums and I hate hate yogurt. which is the only thing I can think of that could be safe. Idk what to do because idk if I can make myself ever do that again. It was so painful, I know I embarrassed myself in front of my friend--not to mention the dentist, I honestly would not be surprised if they refused me as a patient in the future. While my teeth are now healthy, not sure how this looks moving forwards as I had really hoped that sedation would be a solution for me in maintaining their health by going to the dentist regularly. But clearly it is not.

To make matters worse, this is halloweekend and the parties start tomorrow. I am not in the mood to go especially if it still hurts to talk but I am known for being very enthusiastic about halloween parties so if i don't go my friends will not take a simple no without an explanation...which I don't want to give because they are all so judgy about dental stuff and I honestly cannot stand prying questions right now. I almost told my very sweet friend's bf who texted me to "leave me the f alone" just because he asked how it went. Even my bf I lied to and said it was just a normal cleaning and fillings because he got really weird about me needing fillings and I couldn't bring myself to elaborate and say it was a deep clean as well. I am so afraid I told my friend who picked me up in the car that I actually had a deep cleaning when I was blacked out and I won't remember. I can't believe I have to face him at the parties this weekend. I hope he hasn't told anyone.

Anyways sorry for the bummer post on here but I guess just really sad that I seem to be the only person sedation doesn't help with, and dreading how I am going to deal with this the rest of my life.
