Gonna try and take it easy this week. I work 4 days and I hope that it will be busy enough to
distract me. I will not google any procedures or read up on negative experiences.
I don't want to set myself up for failure.

I just want to get this stupid broken tooth that is visible OUT so that I can smile again without
covering my mouth or putting dental wax over the crack.

;D

You'll be just fine.... keep yourself busy. Do you play any video games? Have a Wii or anything like that? I've got this whole week off and am indulging myself with some photography for today, a bit of web surfing, and maybe a comedy movie or two... then tomorrow will come and go before I know what even hit me. LOL!!

Best thing to do is not to dwell on it. Carry on with your daily routine and be proud of yourself for reaching a goal! [smiley=hugging.gif]

I do have a Wii!, but I also have a busy 3 year old who will definitely keep me distracted. :)
Gonna try to squeeze in some extra gym time before the big day too.

Perfect! LOL!!

I'll be thinking of you..... ;D

Bruising and swelling post-extractions

My procedure is on the 9th - Friday morning.
Should I be in OK state (brusing and swelling) for work on Monday morning?

I have never had an extraction in my life, so I don't know what to expect!
Thanks!

I think you should be fine but everyone reacts differently to extractions.
I didn't swell or have very much pain from 4 front bottom teeth extractions.

I barely swelled from 4 impacted wisdom teeth. But that's just my body... some people swell up and bruise. See how you go and just make sure you follow the after care given to you and you should be fine.

Well, this week is definitely keeping me busy.
My daughter is sick with stomach flu and work is a bit insane.
Friday will happen before I know it.

Well, tomorrow is the big day. Five extractions at 8am. :o I guess I'm doing OK, but I am definitely getting more anxious as my appointment approaches. I just got home from work a little while ago and it made it sink in a bit more that this is really happening. I guess because I'm not going back to work tomorrow.
Right now I'm trying to decide what to eat since this will be my last solid food for a few days. I'm going to try to relax as much as possible tonight...read a book if I'm able to quit thinking about the extractions, read the success stories on this forum, and I'm going to bake a pumpkin pie because I'm hoping I'll be able to eat that tomorrow (maybe not the crust)!!

You'll be just fine.... I'm sitting here with 5 extractions, bone grafting in my upper jaw (just below my nose) and I'm perfectly fine.

It's eating that's a bitch! LOL!!! Buy lots of straws... it's easier to drink. If you drink coffee, tone it down by adding cold water.

I was told if I drink milk to make sure I rinse my mouth out after, dunno why...

So far I have eaten, mashed potatoes, squash (pumpkin-mashed) mince finely chopped up and mixed in with the mashed, peas completely overcooked, milo, yogurt, oatmeal (porridge), pasta overly cooked (easy to slide down without chewing). Breakfast drinks, Ovaltine, Milo, Up & Go etc.

You'll get through it just fine. Just think of the outcome!!

This morning (after day 3) I was feeling a bit depressed because I'm still feeling the affects of the bone grafting. I can't wiggle my nose, blow my nose and really have to watch how I sneeze. So it's been putting me in a state of slight depression but I'm also due for my monthly "friend" which makes my moods swing in all kinds of crazy directions. So I'm thinking about that. And I know that this is only temporary and pretty soon I'll be back to my normal self except I'll have much better self confidence and I'll be able to SMILE!! :D

Can't wait to hear back on how it goes!! Think of all the positive things. STAY positive! And remember we are all thinking of you and holding your hand! [smiley=hugging.gif]

Wow, thank you!!! That's some helpful information and it all makes me feel MUCH better!

Yeah, I'm not looking forward to the difficulty eating. I went to the grocery last night and it seemed like everything I was buying was sweets! Icecream, chocolate pudding, pumpkin pie...I did manage to get some potatoes for mashing and some cream of broccoli soup though.

I can't wait to experience the relief of finally having done it and being able to post my own success story

Oh, also, I'm sorry to hear you're feeling a bit down. I'm sure it will pass quickly and you'll be feeling good again soon!

Thanks.... it's all good. I just blogged about how I'm feeling which really helps. I'm feeling a little better.

Oh and I might add, find some soups that don't have a lot of bits in them. Cream of mushroom, pumpkin soup, cream of chicken... all those are yummy too! ;D

Mind you the longer you stay on liquid diet like this the more weight you'll lose. I've already lost 1.5 kilos in 3 days :( BUT... I need to lose the weight. In essence I need to lose about 9 all up to be at my ideal weight. Not exactly the proper way to go about it but it sure helps! :giggle:

9 hours until my appt and I'm feeling the same way! I was telling my husband that I'm sure I'll have a moment of panic while I'm in the waiting room and he said "well, just think, it's the last time you'll ever be afraid of the dentist again". I like that thought!

I'll be thinking of you tomorrow. I will try to post my experience as soon as I get home. 8-)

I am back! 3 suckers are out. Appointennt was less than 45 mins.
I am still under the inlfuence of Ativan so I am fighting sleep,

but It's done. Extractions of other 3 bookes Jan 201

A month ago I would not have dreamed of doing this

O I keep wearing the gauze in my mouth even though there is no bleeding?

Congratulations to you! I had my five extracted but I feel too tired to write my success story today.

Not sure about the gauze but you probably don't need to keep it in if you're not bleeding. I still am a little bit but I took the gauze out so I could try to eat a potato...I'm starving!!

Yay for us for getting this done [smiley=cheers.gif]

Awesome! Can't wait to see your update.

WTG you two!!!

Gauze? I had no gauze..... I do have stitches and they're the dissolvable ones and right now I got one little piece that's starting to bug the bugger out of me!! right behind my front teeth so my tongue keeps playing with it. :errr:

Can't wait to read the stories once you two are back to normal. :giggle:

Oh and I also booked second set of extractions another 3 teeth - Jan 20.2012.
I think I may be addicted to this now lol.

I already told the dentist what I want done next and he says no problem!
