What should I expect?
It's nothing serious. I had an old filling (so yea, it isn't my first time, but I was too young to even remember) that fell down last night, and now I have a very small hole in the middle (to the side) of my upper front tooth. I know it's not a cavity because I've been visiting my dentist every month since July (lots of root canals being done) and she always check for cavities and never found any. But I'm worried it may become one, because my college-student-diet isn't that great.
I've been looking for someone to tell me whether this is urgent or not, but people have refused to answer, so I'm not going to do anything until I am back in my hometown in 1 week and I can discuss this with my regular dentist.
I was going to finish a root canal once and for all next Saturday, and I'm wondering if this will be more important.
Worst case scenario, I will have to have an appointment only to treat this tooth, anesthesia and such. I don't know what I should expect if that happens. Some people have told me that numbing upper teeth (expect for the sharp ones whose name I don't know) is easy and pretty painless. Others have told me that numbing the front teeth is the most painful of injections.
And I don't know who to trust.
Will this anesthesia be any different or more painful than regular ones? Anything else I should expect?
Also, I would really appreciate it if someone could tell me whether this is urgent enough for me to go and find a dentist in this city, or if I can wait? I've been avoiding coffee, it seemed like a good idea when my front tooth has an open hole in it, but for someone who drinks 2-3 coffees daily it's kind of a pain to avoid it. So, can I drink it, or is it best not to?
