Had some major work done....

Hi fellow phobics.
Most of you probably don't know me but i'm a long time forum person who had to overcome her fears 15 years ago.
I've had a reboot and am back to having some major procedures done.
Most recent was yesterday with a good 5 hour visit at the dentists.

I do have a blog, it's been on going since 2011 with a break from 2014 to now, 2025 where new work is being done on my bottoms.

I'll leave my link here for those who would like to see how things have started up until now. My most recent (yesterdays) appointment was .... honestly? .... Brutal, for the first time!! Mind you i love my dentist, he knows me. He knows what to do to make me comfortable but I truly can't blame him because there were a few factors with yesterdays appointment that may have played into why it went a bit sour.
But I'm ok, I survived and I'm extremely proud of myself in spite.

Hi @Root6dee6 - sounds like you did amazingly well especially given the circumstances!! A huge WELL DONE to you !! I hope you'll be super happy with the final result !

It sounds as if you really like your dentist, but I don't think he should have continued when you were obviously in pain. There's no reason not to top up local anaesthetic or try administering it in a different place if it doesn't get you fully numb first time round. Do you think he was aware that you were in pain? While sedation is great - you'll still feel pain if you're not effectively numbed which kind of puts a stop to feeling relaxed or dopey, so pain relief must come first. There really is no place for painful dental treatment in this day and age. It might be an idea to sit down with your dentist for a good chat about what happened and how something similar can be avoided in the future

@letsconnect yes, I get what you say. And the Ativan did its thing because, 1. (my memory of it is decreasing), and 2, I was just told by my wife that he did re-inject. I now remember the jab.... and the tooth (molar) did come out. And I now do recall laying there at the time just prior with tears leaking thinking to myself, just rip it out and get it done. When everything was done and we left the room, (wife told me this), it was like a movie.... he was holding his arm out to me as if to say, "don't go, I'm sorry"... that's what he felt/looked like (Ativan is funny!) but he was just waving, "see you in 10 days". He's very lovely... to me... and we reckon it's because we're feeding him.
