So I'm 29. At 18 I was diagnosed with lymphoma and lukiemia. As a result I recieved a bone marrow transplant. It consisted of chemo, full body radiation and of course tons of meds. Its been 8 years since the transplant and I'm still taking toms of meds. But I have been in remission since.
as a result of all that has happened and all the meds chemo and radiation my teeth have turned to crud. Most of my teeth are broken off and cause a great deal of pain. And the few that aren't Broken are missing a large majority of anamal. As you can imagine I don't make a lot of money being disabled because I have never been able to go back to work. And of course here In The u.s. Medicare doesn't cover dental. So its been hard to come up with the money to see a dentist. And with my medical history I ran into an issue of dentist being scared to even touch me. Was told out right by one dentist office that they discriminate against cancer patients because we are a liability. Isn't that messed up? Well I finally found a place that would take me and now they want to pull all my teeth. Now I can take pain. I cut my finger off in a table saw when I was 16 and laughed when it happened. But there is just something about dentist that scare the crap out of me. I had a tooth extracted about a year ago and it took 6vials of novacane to numb the tooth enough to pull it and It still hurt so bad I almost got physical with the oral surgeon. Because of having such a bad experience I am terrified about having all my teeth pulled. And being that I'm on a very limited income I can't afford to be put to sleep. I'm not sure what to do because the broken teeth keep becoming infected and when your on the meds I'm on that can lead to some really bad things. So it leaves me with no choice but to have them pulled and I am not thrilled.
