help..problem numbing true?

Hi. has anyone ever heard of dentists having trouble numbing patients for extractions, that are on high doses of narcotics? I went to a new(horrible) dentist on Tuesday and he said that he would have trouble numbing me due to my pain meds. I have had 8 back surgeries with complications to my back. I was scared before now this dentist has me terrified...thanks

Not exactly. It can be difficult numbing people who have been abusing narcotics for a while their pain receptors seem to be hypersensitive and they don't go numb very well. That's a huge difference from someone who's been taking prescribed narcotics though and I wouldn't worry about it at all.
