Hi Everyone

This is my first post. I have had IV sedation in the past for tooth extraction which helped immensely. I have been in pain for 4 days but I maybe deemed unsuitable for sedation again as my blood pressure is so high. What can I do next im terrified of getting this done and not sedated. Thank you

(not a doctor), if it averages above 140 at rest at home I think any doc would be fine prescribing BP meds, or increasing them if you're already on them. Outside of that if it's very labile under stress or emotional trauma triggers, but normal limits at rest (120/75ish), that seems more a matter for a hospital to handle before a procedure than an outpatient surgery center. Though you could also ask whoever will be treating you.

Thank you Jake for your reply. Ill maybe need to increase my blood pressure tablets (doctor to recommend first) and then get the sedation. Im always over 140 currently 180/110. I appreciate your response.

(not a doctor) They are going to adjust your meds yea. I would advise contacting your doctor ASAP if you are averaging close to or above 180. If it is averaging above 180 at rest the entire day that is also reason to take a trip to the ER if you cannot get ahold of doctor same day. And explain to them your average, they see that number alot because it's full of people coming in sick or panicking, they'd care about the average though, and likely wouldn't discharge you until sorting out that reading if that's your current average.

@jakesmith thanks Jake my blood pressure has come down a bit as the pain is easing with the antibiotics. I just wish I could attend a normal appointment and be done with it. Anyway hopefully fixed soon. Thanks again
