6 years ago a 2 fillings broke off and destroyed the part of a molar too much of it , due to fear i didint go ditectly i needed a month or so to go the dentist then i go to then didint understand my fear a time later a understnding dentist looked at it and said its needs to be extracten unless i really wanted to try to save but it was like a 10% succes rate for rct+crown and also the question if it will not break again. In Case of failuaire i risked an emergrncy extraction.

Before i could make a desiscion covid came lockdown major depression suicide toughts came with it . I had no pain so i put the head in the sand cause thinking about dentist means more depession , i treid to go to the hyginist once in that period but i the appointment was refused they suddenly stoppen treating fear paitents to make more money.

I didint go the last 5 years i worked out a lot of mental things but i really need to go back on track with dental but when thinking about it the depression came back again crying panicking thinking of suicide. The most nastly thing is one of the broken tooth hurts now and then so i think i dont cant put off that extraction much longer but its my biggest nightmare the pulliing the blood . Scared the wound will open in the night dry socket the hole. How to cope with this?

And how to cope with keep going every 6 months or a year . Again again again every time it never stop unless i die or get dentures. It really makes me so hopeless

It also feels as a failuaire to loss a teeth cause the filling was a bigger one cause i was to scared to go quick after i knew i needed the filling

The remainder broke. Everything gone to the gumline. I have an appointment monday. Dont sure if i get the exteaction then but i gonna see a dentist after 5 years but i have a lot of Shame for my teeth

I let my dental health go for a few years due to depression, and had a lot of shame about returning to the dentist with obvious signs of neglect. Fortunately they did not judge me or ask how I'd gotten into such a state, they just imaged me and came up with a plan and we went forward. I think a 'good' dentist is one who doesn't dwell on why you're having a problem, they're just there to fix it.

My wife recently had an extraction. It went well and healed well, and I think most of them do. Dental science has advanced a lot and our mouths heal. I had my gums opened for an apico and that was sewn up well... but even so, one stitch did let go. They saw it on the return visit. Definitely stick to your follow-up visits so they can address any issues quickly. In my case, the stitch was re-applied and everything closed up, and stayed closed, as it should have.

Sorry to hear what you are going through. I've neglected my teeth quite badly while I've been depressed for years and left it so long to get it sorted I'm really afraid because I have very bad social anxiety and fear being judged but it's getting really painful and need to do something. I think if people in our situation can find a way to get in there the first time then subsequent visits won't be quite so hard? I don't have a great answer for you because I'm still trying to force myself to do something about it but didn't want you to think you are alone in this situation.

OP you are not alone. I have neglected my teeth over the past 6 years through a battle with depression and anxiety. My teeth got worse because I was just straight up neglecting them. But still continuing to drink copious amounts of Dr pepper, energy drinks and cider.

Anyway, getting to the point. I didn't see a dentist for about 4yrs. My teeth were bad but they had repaired them. But in the 4yrs I didn't go and see a dentist they just got bad all over again.

Now, when all is said and done. I will have a single digit number of teeth left. That's right, you read that correctly - a single digit number. I neglected my teeth to the point where all but EIGHT will need to be pulled. I'll have a full denture on the top and a partial on the bottom, with only a row of eight natural teeth at the front bottom.

Now, I must apologise for the lengthy post. But when I see someone who is struggling with depression and mentions suicidal thoughts I must intervene.

You'll be alright, listen to me - it's better to be alive with no teeth, than be buried in the ground with a full set of teeth.

I know depression and I've lived with it for a long time. It's difficult and I understand your suffering. But trust me when I say this - I feel better now, getting the treatment I deserve. I'll have 8 teeth left, and dentures. But I will be free from my dental issues and all associated anxiety. I feel relieved. You will too.

Never give up.
