Well, I actually forced myself to go to my first appt. in 15 years! ::)I do have to have some teeth removed by the oral surgeon but he will knock me out for that one. Then, once that appt. is finished, I just have some minor work this summer. We can do this guys. [smiley=grouphug.gif] The key is to finding a good, caring dentist. I am so proud of myself for just going. Here is what helped me get there, I have been writing down the times where I have been uncomfortable b/c of my teeth. The hours are already going to outweigh the time it is going to take to fix my smile. It also helped to have a focus point/thought through the appt. 20th century denistry has gotten better from the time where a lot of us have had horible experiences that have kept us away. I will keep everyone posted as my treatment progresses.

Way to go!   [smiley=jumping.gif]  [smiley=jumping.gif]  I know this has been a struggle for you but you did it!  Having a good dentist is key and it is also a bonus to have such great technology available today that just didn't exist 10+ years ago!

You should be very proud of yourself.  Thanks for sharing your story, we look forward to hearing how everything else goes!

Take care,
Pam

Congrats [smiley=jumping.gif] I can really relate with the focus part. My dentist has televisions in each room and they play movies on them. It is so much nicer than being in a room with nothing to distract you ;)

I never would have gotten this far if I hadn't stumbled across this site. Everyone has been so supportive and it is nice to know that other people are going through the same things and are overcoming their fears daily. I just hope when all this is done, I can give back. I will keep you posted. My pre-eval is next week with my Oral surgeon. I am going full speed ahead with this. [smiley=jumping.gif]

That's so awesome, I'm actually jealous! I haven't gone the same number of years, only I'm having trouble actually getting an appointment soon. Bleh.

Which teeth are you getting removed?

So proud of you! ;D ;D

Thanks!!!  I am getting my four wisdom teeth removed and numbers 30-31. So six total. The oral surgeon suggested doing it all at once on IV sedation, which is fine with me. Dentist recomm. taking off on a Friday to have the weekend to recoop. Once that is done, can look at some partial.bridgework this summer. I have some work ahead of me but I have a gameplan. My suggestion, is to take a planner with you so you can book multiple dates so that way, once you get started, you can keep the progression moving. It took me a month of waiting before I got in today. I figured that I waited 15 years, what is another month to get a good dentist? I know I will be nervous again before the next treatment, but I with support from here and at home, I will get through it. At least I won't remember much. I think I can handle the recoop. at my house with some good pain killers [smiley=jumping.gif]

When is your appt scheduled??? I will be sending my positive thoughts and prayers to you.

Wow! I was worried you'd say you were getting some of the front teeth removed. That's what I'm afraid of-losing my front teeth. :( The first two lower ones, to be exact.

Howd you go about finding a good dentist? I found one who I *think* will be good, but my appointment isn't until June 26th. After waiting this long I can't wait to actually go, oddly enough. ::)

Thank you for the suggestion. I'll be sure to do that! :)

Thats awesome! Im so happy fo ryou! [smiley=jumping.gif]

FromYesterday,

My family members go to this dentist and my mother works with special needs patients and she takes them to this guy. My advice would be to ask everyone you know about who they go to and when you call, ask his/her receptionist what they think. Good Luck, keep in touch ;D Thanks for being supportive

Can you send Letsconnect the details of your dentist by personal message if you would like them put on the database.

How are you getting on Lukas? :)
