Incoming wisdom tooth causing gum to split

My second wisdom tooth is starting to grow in, it is on the bottom right side. The first one (bottom left side) started coming in months ago with little pain and now it is more than halfway in. This one is causing me major pain, the gum above it has split open completely to make for the tooth. Both wisdoms are coming in upright and my mouth isn't crowded. Is it normal for my gums to literally split in half? It hurts incredibly bad to open my mouth, eat, or and especially puff up my cheeks. any info greatly appreciated!

Hi,

It is normal for the gum to appear to split as the wisdom tooth erupts. When the tooth is only halfway thourgh the gum, the tooth often gets inflammed, as saliva and food can get under the gum and you cannot clean this region.
Commonly, the area remains sore for about three days the resolves. You can help matters but rinsing every hour or so with hot salt water (1/2 teaspoon in HOT water). Also continuously take pain killers. If the situation does not improve after a few days you may have a more entrenched infection. Your dentist can prescribe antibiotics to help the infection. If this situation keeps recurring and the tooth does not fully erupt then you may need to consder extraction.

I have been having a problem with the same wisdom tooth, it is only half way through, no pain but quite a big swelling, dentist said its an infection and normal and i asked if i need it out but only if it doesnt clear and keeps reacurring and doesnt fully erupt in the mouth. It was scary to notice that swelling .

I need help immediately. I have a problem that is similar to this one, but not the same.

Yesterday, my gum & cheek on the left side of my mouth in the very back where the last tooth is began to hurt. I had constant pain. I took Tylenol and it didn't work. I looked in the mirror last night a little after it started hurting and saw that part of my gum and cheek had dry, black and red blood on them and was split a little. Way back in the corner between the last tooth and my left cheek. I woke up today and it hurt all day again today. It is constant pain, not just off and on. It hurts all day every minute. I try to get through it, but it is not getting any better. When I open and close my mouth, it feels weird and that is because it is split a little. I must have ate something sharp that sliced it a little. The slice starts in my gum and ends in my cheek and it's about a centimeter long.

On a scale of the pain that I feel from a 1 to a 10, it's a 9.8. I cannot stand it and nothing works. I can't get it to stop hurting. Does anyone know what I can do? I also ate today and some food got into the splitted part and that wasn't good. I cannot stand this constant soreness and pain any longer! Please help me!

Go to a dentist? Sounds like pericoronitis which is a common complication with partially erupted wisdom teeth.
