intense burning sensation with local anaesthetics

hello -- I have always thought that I was afraid of the dentist and I'm realizing that what I'm afraid of is the sensation of the local anaesthetic because, I am allergic to fire ant and wasp stings, and local anaesthetic feels like that -- an intense burning sensation and difficulty swallowing. Is there anyone who knows why I seem to feel this more acutely than other people -- I can't seem to find anyone who also experiences this -- and is there something that I can do about it? Are there some local anaesthetics that are better or worse than others in these cases? I am currently trying to find someone to do my dental work under general, because the last visit to the dentist (yesterday) resulted in 6 injections and incomplete numbness with severe burning pain with each subsequent injection and difficulty swallowing -- and the dental work didn't get done. And I cried, which only made it all worse.

Lots of possiblities here.
Local with epi burns more than w/o epi.
Faster the injection the more it burns.
Old local or local subject to heat doesn't work as well.
I presume that this was a bottom tooth.
Lower teeth are more difficult to anesthetize with traditional techniques.
