Neither. It's not going to heal because the roots are still there, it doesn't look infected.

Thankyou for your reply. That was my worry, I can’t have any work done without sedation so waiting to see a Maxillofacial consultant.
Just praying the wait isn’t long

Why can't you get a regular dentist to do it under sedation? It's a very simple job.

When I went to the emergency nhs dentist they said I should look at being referred for sedation, I went to UTC with an abscess and mentioned it to him and he said to me he will refer me to a Max Fax so I’ve just been waiting for that.
Now I'm wondering do I just ring for an emergency NHS tomorrow, will they remove it there and then or will I have to wait even more

No, you won't get sedation as an emergency patient.

I assume you're not registered anywhere? You could telephone round some practices and see if anyone 1) Does sedation and 2) Will do the extraction for you.

You might be waiting a while for a Max Fac appointment, if you get seen at all.
Here in the Highlands, the hospital service won't do simple extractions under sedation, it's a massive waste of resources, they'll refer you back out to a general dentist.

@Gordon I put my big girl pants on and went to the emergency dentist, he offered to take it out there and then.
I said sooner the better tbh, it was so awful but I’m glad it’s out.
Now just to get better, any advice on healing at all? I am worried about swallowing so I don’t dislodge anything

My first MaxFac is on Thursday next week, I will still be attending as I still have afew other things to contend with

I am 26, I have lost 2 teeth in the last 3 years. I have an abcess which formed 3 weeks ago, Its not painful yet but it is super uncomfortable and I have been reading that untreated abcesses can be fatal. I suffer from anxiety and depression and sever panic attacks... This isnt even a question, I am just so lost.

@Loz2022 it’s awful when you’re feeling really lost. Do you have much support around you?

Well done you :-)

We've got fairly detailed advice on here:
