80 miles :respect::respect::respect: I am pleased with myself when I have done 2, and that wears me out. I was well chuffed with myself until now. How long have you been riding for? You must be super fit, I can only dream and keep trying.

I wish you good luck :clover::clover::clover: for your appointment. Let us know how you get on, you will be fine. I hope I have caught you before you go but with the different time zones it is confusing to know if you have been yet.

All my best wishes :butterfly:

Thanks Carol and letsconnect!

Just about 75 mins to go until I'll be sitting in The Chair. I got about 6hrs sleep last night (not awful, but not great either). I woke up at 3:30am... tried to go back to sleep until 5:30. For those last couple of hours I had crazy dreams/nightmares about my appt. Usually have them for weeks leading up to my appt, so I supposed that only have 2 hours worth is a huge improvement. I think that visiting this forum regularly has really helped me sort out some of my anxiety with my conscious mind so that my unconscious doesn't go crazy at night while I'm trying to sleep. I do think that breakfast is out of the question as I'm way too anxious and my stomach is in knots.

Carol -- I started riding last year, but have been a runner for several years. in 2007 I weighed 200lbs (~91kg) and I'm 5'4" (~162cm) and couldn't run a mile. I made a huge commitment to change my lifestyle and that was really my singular focus for many months. It also was exactly the same time I started to go to the dentist. For me, it was about learning that I am important enough to take care of myself in the same way that I take care of everyone else. I always say, if I can do it, anyone can. This is not to say that it was easy, but it is definitely doable.

ok... gotta run... don't want to be late for my appt.

Thanks again for all the support!

I'm a bit late on here Fearful but hope all went well for you, and good on you for taking control of your health and lifestyle.

I survived!

Thanks again to all of you. I got through my visit -- It was more uncomfortable than usual as my gums have been so sore. I only saw the hygienist and s he was very nice. When I told her about my fear of all things dental, she told me that she's had a lot of experience with anxious patients b/c she used to work somewhere that they do sedation dentistry. She started to tell me everything she was doing and I was able to tell her that I preferred not to know. I didn't see the dentist at all -- I will see him for a check-up in 6 mos when I go back. It was weird not to see him and I think it actually made me feel a bit more anxious b/c he's the one I trust. But, I got through it ok and I don't have to go back until February!

Thanks again for all the support!

Well done for getting through it :jump::jump::jump: - and great to hear that the new hygienist is really nice !

You can always discuss extra pain relief (Oraqix, nitrous oxide or local anaesthetic) if things are too uncomfortable for your liking. Hopefully though the sore gums are just a transient side effect from the hormone medication . Fingers crossed !!
I hope you'll get a chance to celebrate your success tonight :cheers:!
