Molars extracted

Hi, I’m getting molars 2 and 3 extracted on Thursday. And will be getting an implant in #3 after healing. Everyone says they will deliver a flipper that same day. But the only impressions they have taken of my teeth were for dental trays for medicinal gel after deep cleaning back in March. They have not talked about a flipper to me but they know that I’m eventually getting an implant. Should they have taken another impression of those teeth before this appointment.
Also im very nervous about swelling and pain it’s been a long long time since I’ve had extractions, and general dental work because my fear has me so paralyzed.
Any help would be great. Thank you so much

Hi @FranceG, sorry that you didn't get any replies . I presume you already had the molars extracted by now - if so, how did it go, and are you healing ok?

Hi, thank you for your reply. I had them taken out this past monday. I’m doing ok, thank you. Still in some pain. And more swollen then I had hoped I would be.
I was through the roof with nerves that entire morning of the procedure. But it did not take long. The only part that was the worst for me was when the numbing began to wear off, and nothing else helped for the pain until I picked up the hydrocodone from the pharmacy later that evening.
Food is tricky… still not sure what to eat or what I feel like that is easy enough to handle right now. Not looking forward to having to do this again on the other side, but I’ll wait a bit for that one. LoL

Hi, hope you're doing well. How are you doing with eating on the area? I have to get #3 (along with #'s 18 and 19) extracted at some point. I'd like to get implants for all three if possible (obstructions would be any issues with sinus height and nerve placement). You said you're only getting an implant for #3. Just curious why you're not getting an implant for both 2 and 3.

@maddawgzy. Hi, ok so it’s been almost a month now since they were pulled. And the swelling took about a week and a half to go fully down. When the teeth were extracted the Dr. placed the screw for the coming implant and then covered the holes with a white mesh almost cotton like thing, and then sewed the gums together a bit to close the area, with sutures that were to dissolve. About 2 weeks after the procedure, I noticed swelling in and around that area, like from my teeth to the middle of my palate was swollen, also on the other side (cheek side) was tender and swollen and noticed that the string (suture) was hanging down a bit. Like maybe the swelling caused it to tear away from the gum, because it looked a little more open and irritated. So I went it to the Dentist for them to look at it, they said it was healing and prescribed me antibiotics. It better now, but still feels weird around the gums in that area. Cheek is still tender. I have been careful with eating an/or chewing on that side and rinsing with salt water several times a day. So I don’t know how it got so infected or swollen like that. I don’t go back to dentist for another 1 1/2 weeks, to deliver the implant. Hopefully it is all still on the up and up.
I’m not going to lie though after the initial pulling of the teeth it was painful(during healing) I was taking pain meds for well over that first week. Not looking forward to having to do that again on the other side of my mouth. I probably should have done at the same time but Nooooo!
My friend had ALL- every single one of her teeth pulled in one day, then returned 2 days later to have both arches screwed in with screws. And some how I feel like my two teeth pulled was worse to heal than her whole mouth.

@FrightenedJerk hi, I’m still careful not to chew on that side as it is still tender, and had a bit of swelling and pain 2 weeks into the healing process. I just don’t want to mess up while everything is fusing together.
I’m for sure getting an implant in #3. I can later go back if I choose to get one for #2. But I need to have some other teeth extracted as well and implanted. Because of years of being too afraid to go to the dentist, like a dummy. Now I’m paying the price in pain and money. I think for now just having #3 implanted is good enough for me to be able to chew, I don’t eat that much anyway.LoL as long as you don’t see an empty spot when I smile, then im good.

Thanks ok maybe more complicated than straight extraction? , I keep thinking should I get 3 needles ..pain is what bothers me most. And that pulling fortune telling. I know my adrenaline will be flying , one time I bolted of the chair lol .. so it’s been 15yrs since extraction. Thanks
