I still think that he was referring to his frustration with the tooth and not you. You went to the other office and he made sure that the other dentist just looked at your x-rays, and not at your mouth. He knew how uncomfortable that would have made you. If he didn't care, he would have let that dentist look in your mouth, and not just at the x-rays.

When are you due to go back?
For the sake of your health (all aspects), you owe it to yourself to go back. Time is a great healer where confusing remarks have been made which don't come out quite as intended....so long as you go back to continue the interaction....just concentrate on being the 'perfect patient' Lets referred to and try to stop yourself being so negative about possible second opinions - he may really feel he needs them and worrying about your reaction to this, is maybe putting him in a difficult professional position.
Best wishes [smiley=hugging.gif]

hi brit
im going back on the 31st may. 8 days and counting [smiley=frightened.gif]

Hi Mandy...my appointment is tomarrow [smiley=frightened.gif]

hi freakout
oh sorry i didnt realise i hope your ok? [smiley=hug.gif] [smiley=hug.gif] remember what i said we can do it together,i know im not going tomorrow but im going a week tomorrow so we can do it together,im going to be thinking off you [smiley=hug.gif] good point from lets i forgot when i had my crown done on my bottom jaw i had the local right over on the left side (the actual tooth is ll2). i did have a lot and i had some at the front but not in the same place as the tooth, sorry its hard to explain. and in case you worry i only had a lot because i was so scared it wouldnt numb from the bad experience i had. ill do you a deal you go tomorrow because i know YOU CAN DO IT! and ill make sure i go next week and i can tell you i so want to run away and hide. big big hugs xx [smiley=hug.gif] [smiley=hug.gif]

Hi Mandy...I will go tomarrow, probably shaking like a leaf, but I will go. My stomach is all knotted up right now due to nerves. I worry about the numbing, but I am having pain in the area of the crowned tooth. It's wierd though the tooth behind the crowned tooth hurts too. I can see a cavity in that one, probably one of them he's going to fill.

I guess deep down my biggest fear is that the pain I feel is coming from the crowned tooth, and he is going to want to send me to a specialist (as he has said I have complicated roots) I would probably just burst into tears if I heard that. Kind of feel real emotional right now. I know I should not dwell on things that probably won't happen, however I can't help it. :'(

Thanks for the support, I am sure I will be needed it over the next 20 1/2 hours [smiley=frightened.gif]

hi freakout
wish i could give you a real hug but my arms arent long enough [smiley=hug.gif]. i know what you mean about the specialist im going to have to go as mine hasnt gone away, tried to tell myself it had but it hasnt :( i actually did burst into tears when c mentioned consultants and hospital [smiley=frightened.gif]

I am just holding out hope that I won't need to see a specialist 8-) I know that will really freak me out [smiley=scared.gif] (no pun intended) I just can't believe my appointment is tomarrow already [smiley=frightened.gif] I really am trying to be brave, but.....

I was probably getting mixed up with a different bump, lol - clownfish brain here ;)!

This time tomorrow it'll be over and done with [smiley=grouphug.gif] - now where's this time-machine when you really need it?? :P

hi freakout
fingers crossed you wont have to. part of me wishes my app was tomorrow then at least id be able to put my mind at rest, although next tues i wont wish it was!

That time machine would be great [smiley=jumping.gif] Part of me is glad it is tomarrow, as I need to get it over with, but a bigger part of me wishes it was much farthur off. I am his first appointment, so I hope he's had his coffee. lol.

hey lets
time machine cool idea as long as it goes backwards as well . solve my worries ;D

That would be a great thing, if only that were possible ;D lol. At least you guys made me laugh a little today, something that is usually impossible for me the day before an appointment :-/ It's getting better though, this time I didn't worry about the appointment constantly until 2 days before :o Now if I could only get to the point of not worrying about the appointment until I'm at the office. I don't think that will ever happen :-/

And the stage after that Freakout, is only worrying about it till you go through the treatment room door and sit down....have you never had that feeling of all the waiting room nerves simply falling away?  You'll get there one day, I'm sure...waiting rooms are just intrinsically nerve-inducing, so I can't promise you'll ever be free of those...I amuse myself by trying to work out how nervous other people are...you could try that!
Hope it all goes well - it's great the way you and Harper are supporting each other.

I have looked around, but everyone else seems so relaxed with it. They usually have a movie playing in the waiting room, and the treatment rooms, I always try my hardest to get interested in the movie, so as not to worry as much. In fact I remember at my second appointment (18 extractions w/nitrous & local only) Top Gun was the movie that was on!

Freakout
Anyone would be nervous about 18 extractions!!!! The relaxed-looking people were probably just there for check-ups! I've found the younger people are the most nervous looking which only sort of makes sense...familarity breeds contempt etc

I'm beginning to see what you get for your dollars in the US...sometimes....European waiting rooms are generally just so boring ...glossy magazines plus a bit of ambient music is about as good as it gets!

Good luck later
Brit

hi freakout
good luck today [smiley=hug.gif] [smiley=hug.gif] when i go there either isnt anyone waiting so i have the oh so lovely receptionist from hell [smiley=evil.gif] and an empty waiting room ,oh yeah musnt forget the sound of that thing i need not mention! or mabe one or two people waiting. when i went for my chat with c there was noone there so we had our lovely chat and then i had my local whilst he saw a little lad who had an abcess, about 8 yrs old lying on one of the sofas in the waiting room like he lived there! i usually sit on the very edge of the chair looking like im about to run away. the only thing we have in the waiting room is fish and they dont seem to want to talk to me ;D good luck im thinking of you hugs [smiley=hugging.gif]

Hi Mandy...I'm back from my appointment. Only had the permanaet crown put on, I don't think he wanted to put too much strain on my jaw today. Suffice it to say, "I hate getting crowns" lol

I have to go back on June 7th for fillings, I think. The assistant asked if he was done with me, and he said "for today, but I need her back in 2 weeks for more treatment" [smiley=frightened.gif]

I will tell you more a little later, right now I am feeling a little down.

T

Glad you survived...not very nice being talked about as if you're not there though is it? Hope you start to cheer up soon.
Brit

Hi Brit...They didn't talk as if I wasn't there. The dentist was with a patient in the next cubicle and I could hear what he was saying. I will know soon how the tooth is, as the numbing is wearing off [smiley=frightened.gif] I just fear the will be discomfort [smiley=scared.gif]
