I had my first permanent filling this morning, replacing the temporary one I'd had for a fortnight. It felt really jagged with my tongue and changed the way my teeth rested on each other but I assumed this was just the novelty of a different shape. While eating (not on that tooth- very back tooth at bottom) I heard a squeak noise and there was a part of the filling on my tongue.

Is this just a settling in thing or do I need to return to have it fixed? The tooth feels even more jagged than before now. Is this normal or should it not have happened?

will I need the whole filling redone or just the top part that's come away replaced?

Sounds like a high amalgam
Best to return to adjust and polish smooth. Polishing extend the lifetime.
