Hi all.

I had a full extraction done on the 16th of this month, after dealing with an abscessed wisdom tooth. My general dentist referred me to an oral surgeon who put me in IV sedation. My appointment was for 9am and they called me around 8am asking if I could come in earlier since the Dr was ahead of schedule. Something that rarely happens. Anyways we went off to the office and I made it there before 8:45am. They called me back , placed the IV in my left arm and the Oral surgeon placed two injections into the IV. I think I woke up once when he was finishing up the stitching in my mouth, and the next time I woke up I was done. Well it's now 5 days after and my mouth feels like I have some gauze left in the top and wasn't sure if this was normal. I'm no longer on the Lortabs they prescribed for me, just the anti-biotic and Ibuprofen 800mg. Also I am using the heat method now following the post-op paper. Also today I had two of the stitches in back come out.

Congratulations! [smiley=jumping.gif] I'm glad to hear that you were comfortable throughout the procedure and have started the healing process. I noticed you also posted in the dentist's section, I'm sure you will have a reply soon. (different time zones come into play so don't be worried if it takes a little while!)

There are some other members who have had similar experiences and may also be able to offer advice. It sounds as though you are doing everything right though and I hope it keeps you pain free and allows you to heal quickly. 8-)

Yesterday afternoon when I got up some more stitches started loosening and coming out. I'm so thankful for that because eventually I'd like to get off this soft food diet they told me to stay on until all the stitches were gone. Now I'm trying to get that funny feeling in the top and bottom jaws to loosen up. I'm applying the heat, using the salt-water, rinses but still feels like I have gauze in my mouth. Thank you so much for your kind words. I put off going to dentist after a bad experience and recently over came that fear.

I went to the dentist today and He said I'm healing up fine and he removed what stitches he could that weren't dissolved. So now I just have to strengthen up my gum's until I can go get fitted for dentures.

3 weeks after having all my teeth removed and I'm now having more problems then I did when I had my teeth in. Seems my right bottom jaw is either infected, abscessed, or has fragments in it because on the inside of my jaw, is a small hole and on top of the gum where the teeth use to sit pus came out from there and the opposite side where the hole is near the gum. I called the oral surgeons office and they told me it was nothing, and to use salt-water rinses, and listerine to help keep food particles out of it. But now come Monday I am calling them back demanding them to take me in asap.

it was a tooth fragment that worked it's way out today, so now I'm going to look for another to see if they can start the process of helping me get dentures. I will post updates when I have them,
