New partial upper - Help please.

Hi everyone, i got my first set of partials today both top and bottom. On the upper set the roof part goes so far back i cant put my tongue normal. It just goes straight across. Also when i feel the back of it it feels like there is a gap between the denture and the roof of my mouth. And the inside of the roof of the denture isn't touching the roof of my mouth, and i'm gagging like hell and the denture falls out as soon as i close my mouth or touch it with my tongue. should all of this be happening and can the roof of the denture be curved, like cut away so its not so far back. sorry if this doesn't make sense and thanks in advance for any help.

Speaking from first had experience, it sounds like you just need to go in for an adjustment. Pretty common for new dentures.

I had three flippers made, each time trying to get rid of the feeling you are describing. Then the dentist suggested a "soft re-line" on my latest flippper. This is where they put this soft cushy material into the denture and place the denture back into your mouth while it hardens. It fills in all the gaps and makes the denture so much more comfortable. The difference for me was night and day and I stopped needing adhesive and the denture stopped slipping around and hurting my gums and roof of my mouth. Ask your dentist about it. It was also cheap, and the whole thing took less than an hour.
