Old root canal question

I have been having trouble for quite a time with my teeth due, we think, to clenching. I just wanted to know whether it is possible for a tooth that has had root canal to hurt. It is quite tender and feels different to all the other teeth. Could this just be due to clenching on it. I have just been to my dentist and she says everything looks ok. I last had an xray of it about 6 months or so ago and I am not in a great deal of pain, just general aching which comes and goes. How can a tooth with no nerve it it be hurting? I am quite stressed about it all which is making things worse and I honestly feel like having the thing pulled out. Can anybody help?

It's not the tooth that's hurting, it's the little ligament that holds it in place. Ask your dentist to check the bite on it carefully, you'll probably find that it's a little bit high someplace.

I have not had any work done on this side of my mouth for many years. Is it possible for the bite to change when nothing has been done. Initially I was having problems with a filling on the other side of my mouth (left), then I was hurting on both sides and now just on the right. Whats going on?

Yeah, teeth can move around a bit from time to time, which can change the bite quite a lot.
