I'm having my wisdom teeth removed this Thursday. (4 at once. All are impacted) My oral surgeon has prescribed pills for me to take, most people only need two but I'm gonna take all 3 for max sedation, (I'll be on laughing gas too.) But I'm worried I won't be sedated enough. I can't do IV sedation for several reasons, but it was what I originally wanted. Has anyone done oral sedation? How well does it work?

Oral usually works but always less predictable than IV. The failure rate is the highest when a patient is a dental phobic or when the patient takes other anti-anxiety drugs.

My dentist told me that oral sedation is a really hit and miss thing and not as safe as IV. Glad it worked out for your mum!
