My dad (60 years) recently went to get his wisdom tooth removed because of intense pain. Unfortunately the dentist could not remove the whole tooth and left part of it there. She said she could not remove it and that it would come out by itself in a month or two. If it does not, she told him to come in two months time to get the remaining bit removed. She also gave him antibiotics and said this would prevent any infection.
Could you please clarify whether having a remaining bit of tooth like that harmful? Is it safe or can it create problems?
Would you advise to leave the tooth there or get it out as soon as possible?
Many thanks
Kevin

Is it bothering him? I mean, does it hurt or anything? That is very strange. I would want it out, but that is probably going to mean a small incision to remove it. That would freak me out! I'm not so sure it will just work it's way out.
