I've come out of an episode of major depression and I'm just trying to get all of my work done so I can feel normal again, but there's always some kind of lingering sensitivity or ache, and every time I feel the smallest thing I just start spiraling.
I'm just really scared because my dentists have been having mixed opinions. I'm on state insurance right now so I go to a state place and I see multiple dentists, so whoever is available at the time is the one that cares for me. They're all very nice and good at their job but I'm always scared that they missed something because it's happened before and it could happen again.
Still, one says he wants to keep waiting and see and the other says she'll give me the referral, but the referral never even went through. I'm terrified one day then I'm just going to wake up and everything is suddenly going to hurt and there's going to be nothing available to help me in a timely manner. Even if I were to get in, I'm always so scared of it hurting the second they start to do work. I'm really flighty and I'm bad with pain.
I don't want to cry in the chair because I'm supposed to be an adult and I should have had this all figured out and I should have taken better care of my teeth. When I was younger I was using well water and not city water so I never got enough fluoride, I also have TMJ and bruxism then I could never afford to get a nightguard for, my outer enamel is basically non-existent. everything is always sensitive and my teeth are smooth and flat. There's so many underlying problems I can never tell where it's coming from
I don't know what to do or to expect anymore, I just don't want to wake up one day and have it hurting, but I don't want to go to the dentist either. What if I end up needing it but the stress just makes it hurt more and then they don't have an appointment available and it starts hurting before I can even get it treated?
Even then when I got this tooth done he kept drilling even though I could feel it and I'm really worrying that if I have to get work done on this tooth again it's going to hurt and feel weird and I don't want to freak out in the chair again. When I told him I could feel it, he just kind of sighed at me and kept going so I just had to sit there with tears running down my face.
I don't want to go more than I need to, but I always feel like I need to go back and to just deal with it to see if there's something new even though they tell me everything is fixed. but there's still teeth that hurt even though they say there's nothing on it. I don't know if I just have trust issues or if it's a different thing that's underlying. Even as I'm using text-to-speech now my mouth kind of hurts and it's making my eyes water and I don't know what to do to tide myself over.
I finally worked up the guts to try and call the endodontics place again today too after they rejected me last time and it's gone to voicemail three times even though they're open. the last time I did this they didn't even pick up either, and my dentist said they're not the greatest when it comes to scheduling. I just can't believe he didn't listen to me when I said it still feels wrong even though it's been almost 3 months and now I have to wait. I'm so scared it'll start rapidly getting worse and it'll suddenly be too late, especially with how far out dentist appointments tend to be.
How can I help tide myself over with the stress and impatience and distrust? where do I even start? do I just manage the pain?
