Question About Anesthesia for Jaw Surgery - PLEASE ANSWER AS SOON AS POSSIBLE!

Hi,

I am having jaw surgery this Spring to correct an open bite and I was wondering what type of anesthesia you would normally receive?

In the past (for other surgeries) I have asked for (and been given) anesthesia through a mask (see pictures below). I would much prefer this method as I HATE, and have a FEAR, of needles.

If there are any videos or experiences of the anesthesia experience for jaw surgery, please share them with me. I am very NERVOUS!

Thanks,

You will have general anesthesia with nasal intubation.
Discuss the induction technique with your anesthesiologist. If you have a reasonable medical history then the doctor might be willing to use an inhalation induction rather than an intravenous approach.
